Although it is a Paperback one, the cover seams like a hard one. Which is cool.
From PPSOP to this book November 11, 2009 J. Fan 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought this book after discovering Bryan Peterson's PPSOP photography school (from youtube!) and came away entirely impressed by the way he explains concepts in simple and do-able ways. If you have been watching his videos, you will notice that they been written in the book as well.
What the book adds is that he displays many examples of his photographs and walks you through how he did it and how it relates to the current chapter. He goes a step further to "climb" out of the book to "sit" next to you -- meaning that you may have questions as you follow along; he anticipates those questions, provides answers, and sometimes even photographic examples and exercises! This is really a man of great field and teaching experience.
And a word about his enthusiasm. I think this is called a field guide because readers become so pumped about getting out to shoot that, if they want to continue reading, they have to bring it with them out to the field!
Great Purchase October 23, 2009 michael 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
The book is very well written and informative. Also, has some great photographs. Well worth the price and as usual arrived on time. Would recommend this for any one that wishes to take better photogaraphs of all types.
If this is the first photography guide book, go for it. October 22, 2009 Takahito Nakamura 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This book is a great book for any amateur photographer starting out. The reason I got this was that I read his Understanding Exposure and learned a lot about photography. This book seems to be combination of his books and what you read can be pretty elementary if you have read his other books or other photography guidebooks. But if you are looking for the first book to learn about photography, this is a good one to start with.
Outstanding reference guide October 21, 2009 Lens Artwork (Ann Arbor, MI) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I bought this book and am so glad I did. What I appreciate most is that it touches on many subjects, and gets right to the point. You can look up the topic, read Bryan's advice on it, and see the results with the sample pics that are included. The information alone about the exposure triangle makes this book purchase-worthy. It'll appeal to newbies and veterans.
It's also small enough that it will fit in most medium/large size camera bags as an ever-ready reference guide when out and about.
5 stars all the way.
