Product Description
It’s summer vacation, the weather’s great, and all the kids are having fun outside. So where’s Greg Heffley? Inside his house, playing video games with the shades drawn.

Greg, a self-confessed “indoor person,” is living out his ultimate summer fantasy: no responsibilities and no rules. But Greg’s mom has a different vision for an ideal summer . . . one packed with outdoor activities and “family togetherness.”

Whose vision will win out? Or will a new addition to the Heffley family change everything?

5 out of 5 stars Reading is fun!   November 20, 2009
Johnny Heering (Bethel, CT United States)
This is the fourth book in the Diary of a Wimpy Kid series, and the the first one to take place during summer vacation, rather than during the school year. Greg Heffley manages to get into just as much shenanigans out of school as he does in school. Another extremely funny book.

5 out of 5 stars Dream come true   November 19, 2009
Tax Lexa (Maryland)
I had sort of sadly given up on my son (11y.) ever wanting to read anything - unless he was made to.
Reading gave me a lot of comfort and pleasure and I devoured a few series when I was his age.
Just as I had come to terms with the fact that he is different and that I shouldn't be imposing what I enjoy, Diary of a Wimpy Kid entered the house.
I couldn't believe it: He was reading night after night with the flash light on in bed. I thought the day would never come.
So Jeff; Thank you. Thank you!!

4 out of 5 stars Diary of a Wimpy Kid (#4 Dog Days)   November 16, 2009

Although I am 13 and a little old to be reading this level of book, I have to admit that it is very funny. I have read the entire Diary of a Wimpy Kid books and I never get tired of them. I whiz through them every time, laughing out loud and always wondering what will happen next to the pessimistic boy named Gregg who is the main character. This humorous book is one that I would recommend to anyone, of any age, who is ready for a good laugh.

This book is called "Dog Days" not only because Gregg and his family get a dog, but mostly because Gregg spends his summer being very lazy. First, Gregg finds out that his parents are not going to go to the usual summer beach house because they are short on money. While his mom wants to experience "family fun", Gregg finds himself happy with playing video games all day long, watching movies all night long, and then sleeping in and ticking his dad off. Through out the book, Gregg experiences a mean older brother, an annoying little brother, two no fun parents, and now-a dog? When the dog starts to make Gregg's summer even more miserable, he thinks he mine as well just go back to school now. But when Gregg's ex-best friend invites him to a summer beach house he tries to make something positive out of it. Although this beach trip doesn't turn out exactly how it was planned, Gregg decides that he'd rather just sit and play video games inside. In the end, Gregg comes to the decision that his family isn't that bad at all.

Although it seems as though a book about a pessimistic, video game loving kid would be boring, I assure you that it is not. With the cartoons giving a peek at what happens next, this book is always interesting. The way Gregg thinks and the way Gregg's plans always turn out different than he thought is humorous until the very end of the book. To learn more about Gregg's adventures read Diary of a Wimpy Kid (#4) and you'll find yourself laughing out loud.
