Product Description
Each one of us can be an oasis of peace.—Desmond Tutu Inspired by the idea that wisdom is the greatest gift one generation can give to another, award-winning photographer and filmmaker Andrew Zuckerman interviewed, photographed and filmed 50 of the world’s great writers, actors, artists, designers, politicians, musicians and religious and business leaders of our time. He posed seven questions to each of his subjects—all over 65 years of age—and their candid responses offer uniquely inspirational and often surprising insights. Thoughts from Nelson Mandela, Frank Gehry, Judi Dench, The Dalai Lama, Desmond Tutu, Clint Eastwood, Ted Kennedy, Robert Redford, Vaclav Havel, Terence Conran, Buzz Aldrin, Lou Reed, Willie Nelson, Madeline Albright, Jane Goodall, Burt Bacharach, Andrew Wyeth, Vanessa Redgrave, Nadine Gordimer and many more reveal lifetimes of adversity and triumph, and present intimate insights into very public lives. Beautifully photographed and accompanied by a documentary DVD, Wisdom is above all a timeless gift and a deeply revealing portrait of the common experiences that unite generations.

Wisdom: A great gift to our parents November 4, 2009 Meg Stiles (Norcross, GA USA) We fell in love with Andrew Zuckerman's photography through our research and learning about photography, then found a link to this book [...].
We purchased two copies, one for my 76 year old mother; the other for my husband's 85 and 87 year old parents. They have all enjoyed the book immensely -
wish I had purchased a third copy for us!
Beautiful reproduction, wonderful prose, and many of the persons featured in the book are not the typical "media famous" types. Many lessons to learn.
Wonderful Purchase. September 16, 2009 jane mac (cranford, nj) This book is fantastic!! Large portraits on each page with the most interesting photos I have ever seen. Wisdom is written all over their faces. It is so interesting to read what they have to say. And, Clint Eastwood is still handsome at 80 years of age. A very good buy, indeed. I saw this book for sale at the Jersey shore and it was $50.00!! You won't be disappointed.

Wisdom - inspiration September 11, 2009 Tenis Dimants (Latvia) Realy great book!
It is amazing how large and top quality it is for this small amount of money.
I ordered it straight after viewing the "make of" trailer on [...]
The thoughts and pictures in book are so brilliant, i get a lot of inspiration
from just about any page i open.
I bought it just for the art of photography, but actually everything in package is a masterpiece!!
I recomend it to everyone as i think everyone should have something so nice at theyr home. And for now everyone can.
Plus there is DVD included. And thats even better.
an incredible experience August 18, 2009 Ziv Kitro (Israel) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I knew I must have "Wisdom" when I first saw the trailer for it. The concept just grabbed me.
When the book arrived I couldn't open it, it felt like I should wait for some special occasion.
Eventually I started reading it, and going through it to look at the images and all I could think was "wow, this is something else, this is how it should be".
I would love for more books like this to come out.
It's more than a book, it's an experience. a visual and mental experience you owe yourself.
The Greatest Gift = Wisdom May 1, 2009 dream factory (Triangulum, M33) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Feed me and I shall not hunger today = Teach me to farm and I know not hunger. Wisdom - a list of expected and quite surprizing individuals cast upon the reader a wealth of deep seeded words of wisdom.
Achebe - No one can teach me who I am.
Eastwood - Confidence, be what you are.
Mandela - good head + good heart = formidable combination.
Chuck Close - More interesting that problem solving is problem creation.
Buzz Aldrin - Fear is a paralyzing emotion.
Jane Goodall - Uniqueness of animals.
Personal codes for living better lives.
Zucherman has put together quite an impressive book of profound honest verbage from 50 individuals you shall come to consider friends. Redford, Shankar, Wyeth, Tutu, Nolte, Nelson, Albright, Bruna, etc.
An extraordinary legacy for the 21st century and you and me. This big book makes for a great gift for that 'thinker / intellectual' hungry friend.
