Sharing the Grief Response November 9, 2009 Brenda C. Vanno (Troy, NY USA) I have been active in grief work for years, but when my mother passed after a long journey with Alzheimers', I needed to walk this process again. This book helped me embrace emotions and questions I had not experienced before. I now keep extra copies in my library to share with others who have lost their moms and help them understand how this bond is like no other. Harold Ivan Smith's book helped make this journey easier for me.
Losing Mom August 14, 2009 S. Cox (Huntsville, AL) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I cannot tell you how much this book put into words the feelings I've experienced since losing my mom. My friends try to understand, but how can they? - their moms are still alive.
This book has given validation to my grief and sadness. I feel less alone in knowing that others have walked this road and felt this pain.....and survived. It has made me feel it is "ok" to love and miss my mom.
I highly recommend this book to anyone who has recently lost their mom.
Thank you, Harold Ivan Smith, for understanding.
My poetic throughts on the loss of my mother May 22, 2009 Sonya Tupone Lloyd (Halethorpe, MD) MOTHER DEAR
(Oh mother dear, I miss you like never before)
Where are your warm hugs?
Have they cracked and wilted in your empty arms
Where are your sweet smiles?
Have they dried and shriveled on your cold lips
Where are your funny jokes?
Have they turned to dust and lay at your feet
To whom will comfort me?
To whom will dry my tears?
To whom will I lay my head,
When no one else is near?
(Oh mother dear, I need you more than ever)
Where have you been?
Have you finally been laid to rest
Where are you now?
Are you flying high with the angels?
OR
Are you down in the deep dark well?

Highly recommend this book February 24, 2009 G. Johnson (Edmond, OK USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I read this book 5 years ago when I lost my mother. It helped me understand what I was going through, I reflected on it a lot. I've since then loaned my book to friends and relatives that are facing the same grieving challenges. There is no love like a mother's love. I highly recommened this book.
Great Book November 29, 2008 K. Rome (Texas, USA) I just lost my mom, and this book is very good. I was searching for something to make me feel better and this book helped.
