| Editorial Reviews:
Product Description This book demonstrates how to analyze and interpret research data with SPSS 15.0 through a variety of statistics reviewed in intermediate statistics courses. The new edition features SPSS 15.0 but it can also be used with earlier versions. Each chapter introduces several statistics and explains how to run them and interpret the outputs. Featuring user-friendly descriptions, the book reviews how to assess the reliability and validity of data. The authors demonstrate how to: choose the appropriate statistic based on the research design; use SPSS to answer research questions; and interpret and write about SPSS outputs. The examples use real data and are contained on the book's CD. Outputs, screen shots, and lab assignments complete the package. This inexpensive paperback is an ideal supplement for courses on intermediate/advanced statistics and/or research methods.

Essential for students learning statistical programs and prodecures simultaneously May 22, 2009 anonymous reviewer (Madison, WI US) As a person learning both how to use statistical programs (e.g.: SPSS) and how and when to apply different statistical procedures, this book has been a lifesaver for me. Clearly written, with very helpful step-by-step instructions for running procedures using SPSS's drop down menu, the syntax this creates, and interpretations of output. The authors provide enough theoretical statistical background but not so much that you can't see the forest for the trees. If only all of my time trying to learn statistical procedures had been as well-spent as my time using this guide!
Saved me! May 2, 2009 Carol Gentry (Pensacola, Fl) This book really is great for those of us who may not really get it! Unfortunately, I had 2 professors who were not really stats experts...this book has helped me fill in the gaps. It explains what they did not.
Easy to understand April 8, 2009 Evelyn Mejias This book is a step by step instructions how to interpretate your data and give examples of writing.
SPSS for intermediate statistics November 25, 2008 C. Hardy This is one of the best SPSS books I have ever used. It shows how to write a report based on the statistical analysis used and what the output means. It also helps you determine which statistical analysis is needed for your data.
