Good info, but boring to read and poor presentation August 29, 2009 Felipe Baccan (Australia) A physiotherapist perspective to lower back syndromes, hips & shoulder syndromes. I found very hard to read or get into it. Poor pictures that does not clearly demosntrate what the text says.
Excellent, but.. June 27, 2009 Brenda Messling (Fayetteville, AR USA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This is a great book. The way it is arranged and the information presented is all excellent. If you are interested in a book that will help you diagnose your clients movement problems this may be perfect for you. As a massage therapist however I was slightly put out that there were no manual treatment options discussed for each impairment. Exercise and postural correction are the treatment of choice in this book. A body worker should be able to add their own expertise to the exercises and life style changes and come up with a great combination of manual treatment with things the client can do on their own.
Putting it all together March 7, 2009 K. Fisher (Wisconsin, USA) I have been a physio for over 25 years and this text really puts it together and adds a lot of substance to the motor control theories. An excellent text..
Love the book February 4, 2009 Pat J. Carcaise (New Jersey) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
Book is great. A lot of insight. Problem. Several pages were misprinted and can't make out what is says.
thorough and understandable January 21, 2009 etfut falo (Trier, W-Germany) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I'm a rowing coach and was always looking for a book on the treatment of movement impaiments that would take an alternative look at the subjekt. With Shirley Sahrmann's book I have found everything I was hoping for. The author goes from the more general presentation of the necessary background informantion to the spezific diagnosis and possible treatments of the most common movement impairment syndroms. She also provides insights in an understanding these syndroms that is coming from a rather holistic perspective. Thus she is looking at movement problems as a result of problems of the whole chain of muscels involved in that movement, not just the specific muscels of the area, where the symptoms are noticed first. Any coach, who has discovered that improving athletes' performance in competition means advancing their physical performance by removing movement impairments, will quickly call this book one of his favourites.
