Product Description
Dr. Khan's classic textbook on radiation oncology physics is now in its thoroughly revised and updated Fourth Edition. It provides the entire radiation therapy team--radiation oncologists, medical physicists, dosimetrists, and radiation therapists--with a thorough understanding of the physics and practical clinical applications of advanced radiation therapy technologies, including 3D-CRT, stereotactic radiotherapy, HDR, IMRT, IGRT, and proton beam therapy. These technologies are discussed along with the physical concepts underlying treatment planning, treatment delivery, and dosimetry. This Fourth Edition includes brand-new chapters on image-guided radiation therapy (IGRT) and proton beam therapy. Other chapters have been revised to incorporate the most recent developments in the field. This edition also features more than 100 full-color illustrations throughout. A companion Website will offer the fully searchable text and an image bank. "Doody's Core Titles™ 2009."

4 out of 5 stars Couldn't survive without it   September 27, 2009
RONALD DEJESUS (Chicago, IL)
This is absolutely my "Resource-Bible" of physics of Radiation Therapy...

Must-have book, for those who want a clear understanding of the physics behind radiaton oncology.

5 out of 5 stars excellent   August 22, 2009

This book is essential in gaining a solid grasp and understanding of the physic concepts in Rad Onc.

The language of physics is math and the book isn't short on equations. the figures and tables are well put together.

Currently going through a Dosimetry program , I can say this book is much more in-depth than the introductory RTT books out there, which are just that " Introductory" . You wont get a better understanding, nor comprehensive explanations from other textbooks ( and I've gone through a few)

This is an excellent book for any Dosimetrist, student or professional. The book can be used as a refrence and/or to study for CMD. Important radiation physics concepts explained.

1 out of 5 stars someone please come up with something else!   January 29, 2009

Worthless for anyone without a degree in Physics. Since it's being used to teach Radiation Therapists, can someone please come up with a better alternative? The lack of units in equations makes it impossible for a lower level student to learn from it.

2 out of 5 stars Not too clear   January 1, 2009

Even though this is supposed to be the gold std for rad onc physics, it's not a particularly good one for teaching. It's mildly out of date and the writing style is, well, frustrating to read. Like another reader pointed out, the author makes random references to this and that w/o further explanation. Unfortunately, b/c this text is the std, it's become a necessity. So try to borrow someone else's copy for the boards, cause you won't be using this book on a daily basis, that's for sure.
