Best Organic 1 Review material October 9, 2009 J. Williams 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This book is the reason why i passed my organic course. It breaks everything down step by step, so that when your open your massive text book you actually have a clue to what is going on. I would recommend this book to anyone taking Organic I. I was looking for the Dummies Organic II book when doing that course but I was not successful. (Cliff Notes Organic II helped though)
Fine for the first quarter O Chem. April 24, 2009 M.B. (Seattle, WA) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I read all of these reviews and decided to check out O Chem for Dummies and O Chem Demystified from the library before purchasing. The dummies book was certainly an easier read and was good clarification since I took the upper level o chem without taking gen chem first. The book really doesn't cover much material and if you are in the class for the long run (the whole series) then buy the demystified book which covers the entire year's worth of material to a depth that will actually help you be successful in class.
Great supplement! November 22, 2008 Chris Flanigan (Troy, IL USA) I bought this book to help clarify some of the concepts my text book was muddy in explaining. This book is an excellent supplement to an over-complicated text book. It breaks concepts down into layman's terms and really brings the subject matter down to a level that most "normal" people are able to readily comprehend.
Organic Chemistry for Dummies October 22, 2008 Amber Wells (Virginia) Considering Organic Chemistry is probably one of the toughest subjects to dumb down, this book does an awesome job at it! I really found it to be very helpful when I needed additional help over something my professor hadn't cleared up so well in lecture. I have recommended this book to many of my fellow classmates and will continue to do so.
Pretty Good October 6, 2008 Kathleen Turk 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This book does simplify some important concepts in Organic Chemistry, but it does not cover everything you may need. For example, when naming compounds, the book explains in detail how to name skeletal structures, but it left out some important rules for naming cyclic compounds. It will not clarify everything, but it should still help if you are lost.
