Errors and more errors September 21, 2009 Laura (Chicago) The book is good in that it has many questions. However, it has many, many errors -- whomever wrote and/or edited it must have done it in a rush. I cannot recommend it due to errors -- in the end more confusing than helpful -- very sloppy work.
Very Helpful July 3, 2009 onebabynurse I bought the first printing and it had some errors, then contacted the authors (they put contact info in the book-how many authors do that and actually answer?). They sent me a list of corrections right away. I also contacted the publisher who verified that corrections had been made by the authors prior to publication, but they had not transferred over. The first printing has errors and sold out really fast. The errors were addressed in the second printing. If you have a question, just contact the authors. I used the book and scored 100% on two major sections. I was weak on ABGs, but this got me to easily understand them. Everybody in our hospital that went to the review and got the book passed.
Adult CCRN Certification Review July 3, 2009 Critcarern This is an excellent review book. Yes, there are a few minor errors but the authors were VERY responsive. I understand the 2nd priniting has corrections. I highly recommend this book for anyone wanting to PASS their exam!
Not worth the money or aggravation June 12, 2009 Brooke G. 2 out of 4 found this review helpful
I bought this book after taking a two-day review course from the author. (Which is another story) I thought even though the class was a bust the book would be great. There just aren't any books out there with so many practice questions. The whole book is riddled with errors. I found it to be distracting and confusing. In my opinion, it is a reference that hurt more than helped. I found that not only are there questions that are flat out wrong, but sometimes one answer would be listed that was wrong and the rationale for the right answer was given. It seems there was a severe lack of proof reading and editing. Having passed the test, I would say there are many better references such as the Kaplan review. Overall, big disappointment and I would not waste your money.
Pretty good, but a few complaints... April 7, 2009 B. Gibson (Virginia) Initially, when I looked over this book in a store, I was very impressed. I liked the fact that it just contained questions and rationale. I also read the only review posted here on Amazon at the time. So, I purchased the book. After having received it, I still like it. However, the CD that accompanies the book seems to have some errors. I like the format of questions on the CD. On the CD the you can customize a quiz of any length of your choosing and those questions can be selected from any one (or multiple) content ares. This feature is very nice. The problem I have noticed is that some of the questions do not match the answer options given and when you review your results for sample quiz, the rationale has nothing to do with the answer. Also, sometimes the correct answer according to the CD will not match the rationale given. This happens approximately every ~30 questions or so. I'm not sure what the problem might be, but it has caused me to lose some confidence in whether answers shown to be correct and vice versa are actually correct or incorrect. That's not a good thing with something as important as the CCRN exam.
