Product Description This book captures the essence of an important chapter in television history: coverage of the origins of the Emergency!, a dramatic series significant beyond entertainment. Emergency! followed the daily lives of a pair of Los Angeles County Fire Department firefighters/paramedics, along with their colleagues at Station 51 and the emergency room staff of Rampart General Hospital. The book offers a behind the scenes look, packed with interviews from many of the medical and fire department technical advisors, cast members, writers, and other production crew members that worked on the series.

Loved the concept, wish there had been more details. October 16, 2009 B. Baxter (Sherman, TX) This is an easy, entertaining read. I learned some neat little tidbits of information I might never have known. I do find myself wishing for more though. So many areas could have been fleshed out to make this an even better work.
The book is not perfect, but considering we are talking about a television series that happened thirty plus years ago, the old adage "beggars can't be choosers" might apply here. I am glad I made the purchase.
Great book!! September 22, 2009 Lynn Schneider 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is a great addition to any book collection!! It gives lots of interesting behind the scenes information about the tv series.
Great read March 3, 2009 B. Taryla 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
If you are an Emergency! fan, you will need to get this book. It gives great background about the episodes and a synopsis of each episode. It even has information about the Emergency! movies and unfilmed scripts from the show.
Good book for EMS professionals, not E! fans February 27, 2009 Kimmers 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
Contrary to Dick Friend's assumption in the foreward, I am not a firefighter/EMT; I'm "just a fan" from the original broadcast of Emergency. As such I expected the book to have more photos and cast stories about the actual filming of episodes. What I got instead was an overwhelming, often tedious, hodge podge of information about things I could care less about, such as the specs on the squad and equipment, spinoff TV shows, and the 1998 Emergency convention. Out of 402 pages you only get 19 photos, 5 color and 14 low-resolution black and white, all things that die hard fans have seen a million times already, like the exterior of Harbor UCLA Medical Center. The tiny little cursive font for the cast and crew quotes was the worst. I'm 41 years old now; I need big print!! P.S. to the publisher: The actor's name is spelled Bobby T-R-O-U-P, not "Troop". This book has some redeeming qualities but I do not recommend it for hardcore fans.
Terrific insight and a well written book February 15, 2009 Karen R. Hogenboom (USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
