Product Description
Since delivering his keynote speech at the 2004 Democratic National Convention, Barack Obama has been hailed as the clear savior of not only the Democratic party, but of the integrity of American politics. Despite the fact that he burst onto the national scene seemingly overnight, his name recognition has grown by leaps and bounds ever since. Barack Obama in His Own Words, a book of quotes from the Illinois Senator, allows those who aren't as familiar with his politics to learn quickly where he stands on abortion, religion, AIDS, his critics, foreign policy, Iraq, the War on Terror, unemployment, gay marriage, and a host of other important issues facing America and the world.

Barack Obama in His Own Words Lisa Rogak October 31, 2009 Christopher M. Crumbley Lisa Rogak does a thorough job showing the real Barack Obama in her book "Barack Obama in His Own Words." She includes many quotes from his campaign and others from various sources. These quotes put together a vivid picture of who Obama is and what he believes about topics such as war, abortion, nuclear weapons, change, other presidents, etc I liked how she separated the book into sections for easy reference and a more concise description. I learned a lot about him as a politician but there are quotes about his family as well. I feel that a person's character is very crucial to how he performs his job so I enjoyed reading all his thoughts in one place. This book is short and easy to read through. I recommend everyone read it to get to know your president better.
Revealing and Interesting October 29, 2009 Louise Kennedy (Lake Worth, Fl United States)
Obama in His Own Words by Lisa Rogak is easy to read and very eye opening. The quotes are from speeches and are separated in categories such as The People, On Issues, On America, On Slip up's and others. I felt he spoke in a way that everyone could understand as well as being honest and believable. I was particularly surprised on the section that contained his quotes on the slip up's in his life. I felt he was being very honest and straightforward. If you are an Obama fan or one who is in the middle you will like this book. If you are not an Obama fan you will simply pick this book and him apart. If you read it with an open mind I am sure you will enjoy it. I felt he did not try to cross talk or talk in a way that was deceptive but was honest and forth coming about his beliefs.
BAD PRESIDENT, GOOD SPEAKER August 22, 2009 Kenpo Mark (god bless the USA) 1 out of 5 found this review helpful
And a COMMUNITY ORGANIZER shall lead them....
The most inexperienced and least qualified of all presidents.
Never held office previously
Was only a Junior Senator with little experience with the legislative branch
Never proposed any substantial ideas or innovative bills
Never a CEO or in an executive position
Has proven to be a polarizing figure with radical, anti American; anti white associates
Claims victory for anything positive, but STILL blames all mishaps on Bush (thats getting old)
This man is now a US President; not because he is qualified, but because his PUBLIC RELATIONS campaign succeeded at pushing the mantra of change... WITHOUT EVER DEFINING WHAT THE CHANGE WAS.
Now that the honeymoon is over, it is clear to even the liberal element that this was a mistake and he is not what his campaign portrayed him.
If you want to discuss real change, take a look at a real president, like that of Ronald Reagan. There are some fine audio books (Reagan in his own words, Reagan Diaries), this is for the serious scholar; and sell the Obama book on ebay for a $1, that's all it's worth.
"Hear the Words of President Brack Obama" December 14, 2008 Shirley A. Butler (New Orleans, LA) 2 out of 4 found this review helpful
I was so please to read the writing of Presidents Barack Obama. He knew the challeges he would face running for the president of the United States of America. He stood fast and followed his dream. This faith in his heart and in my Heavenly Father, let all us know that we can achieve any thing possible if we only believe in ourselves.
Barack Obama in His own words October 5, 2008 Daphne Innes (Ronnert Park, CA USA) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
Barack Obama in his own words.
This was helpful as a quick guide to see where he had stood, using exerpts from prior interviews.
It is the sort of thing you want to take with you when riding the train or bus. Nothing in depth.
