Product Description Completely updated for easier use and more control, VCE Pacific View is a groundbreaking workbook/CD-ROM package that brings learning to life in a "virtual" hospital setting. This guided learning experience features textbook reading assignments that correspond with the CD-ROM and workbook activities. The workbook acts as a map, guiding students through the CD-ROM as they care for patients in the virtual hospital to help students make connections between what they experience through the CD-ROM and what theyve learned in their textbook. Each virtual hospital visit allows the student to access realistic information resources essential to patient care resulting in a true-to-life, hands-on learning experience. Users will also discover that this edition of VCE is easier to use with the inclusion of flash-based technology and the elimination of previously needed third-party plug-ins. * Meaningful, real-world problems place users in nursing scenarios where they can set priorities for care, collect data, analyze and interpret data, and reach conclusions about complex problems within a health-illness transition. * The highly-engaging format encourages active learning and provides opportunities to identify information to collect and process data for evidence-based patient care; work with data entry and retrieval screens; optimize use of available information resources; understand hospital information systems; manage information for decision-making; and maintain and improve core computing skills. * Lessons in the workbook complement the content in the textbook and guide the student through the virtual hospital. * Includes NCLEX examination-style questions that offer built-in testing of clinical knowledge.

| Customer Reviews: Essential for the anaesthetic primary exam November 16, 2009 N. MacCormick (Australia) This book is essential if you are studying for your anaesthetic primary exams. It explains respiratory physiology thoroughly, albeit sometimes in too much detail. Excellent graphs.
Respiratory made easy August 1, 2008 J. Starratt (Lebanon, OR United States) To clarify: I am a Nurse Anesthetist student with an extensive critical care background. That said, this book does an outstanding job of taking a very complex subject and breaking it into digestible peices. I wish I had read this 10 years ago as my understanding of and care for patients with critical respiratory issues would have been greatly improved.
I would recommend this book for anyone who really wants to understand how the respiratory system works from a macro to micro level.
Much better book....... August 18, 2001 Glen Hawkins (Sydney, NSW Australia) 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
The 5th Edition of this book has been revamped by Dr Lumb to its infinite benefit. Nunn's used to be a book that you waded through after getting the essentials from Wests more concise book. Studying for my anaesthetics primary this year I found the new edition much more readable and with its specialised sections in the rear (pathophysiology and altered physiology) will be a book that I will keep referring to in the furture. The book still is a little irrelevant to me in some of its detail and it can often be difficult to determine the exact point that is trying to be made but the change in editorship has made for a great improvement. One section that puzzles me is the first which seems quite a detailed explaination of atmospherics which has very little relevance to the topic matter in reality. Still an essential for both the trainee and then clinician alike.
Nunns Applied Respiratory Physiology July 20, 2000 A very well written, and very useful text on respiratory physiology. Excellent work on mechanics of breathing, not quite so good on neural origins of respiratory activity. Useful sections on paediatrics, anaesthetics and sleep.
EVERYTHING you need to know about respiratory physiology! March 30, 2000 joel meredith (Nashville, TN) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
From the beginning student to the experienced clinician, Nunn's Applied Respiratory Physiology provides a thorough and concise review of the respiratory system. It is the book of choice for those wishing to raise their knowledge base, as well as those wanting a quick review. No astute anesthetist should be without one!
