Product Description Closed circuit television (CCTV) is experiencing a leap in technology using digital techniques and the Internet. The new edition of this high-level professional reference retains the particulars that made the first edition a success, including the details of CCD cameras, lenses, coaxial cables, fiber-optics, and system design, but it is expanded to cover all video compression techniques used in the ever increasing assortment of digital video recorders (DVRs) available on the market today. It also serves to clarify the technology of data networking. The theoretical section explains the various compression techniques, such as MPEG-1, MPEG-2, JPEG, Wavelet, H.261/263, JPEG-2000, MPEG-4, etc. Networking is also a new and unknown area for many CCTV installers and this is explained in a brand new section. The challenge of selecting the right system from such a wide variety of new technologies available in CCTV has been compounded by the advent of DVRs. This new edition of the book CCTV demystifies DVR technology.
- Covers brand new digital video recorder (DVR) compression techniques, image quality, measuring and networking - Fully illustrated with dozens of photographs, tables, checklists, charts, diagrams and instructions - Encompasses CCTV standards for U.S., Europe, and Australia

| Customer Reviews: Excellent book August 26, 2008 working man (CT USA) I'm still reading but am very satisfied with this book. There's some info that's a little outdated, like the chapter on video tape recorders which I haven't used in years. But over all a complete source for the cctv installer or designer. You'll find yourself referring to it again and again.
It will teach you everything you need to know in CCTV. January 22, 2008 Roberto Frias Del Moral (Madrid, SPAIN) It was exactly what I was looking for. It explains perfectly all the components of a CCTV system with enough technical information. No need to be an engineer to understand it but it studies in depth each section. I always had different documents and books to seek information about a CCTV issue, now this book is the only thing I use.
It Really Is The CCTV Bible! February 12, 2006 CCTV MAN 10 out of 12 found this review helpful
The most comprehensive and complete book on CCTV there is. Incorporating the most up to date digital information also gives it more relevance.
Vlado explains all aspects of CCTV with a great balance of technical information, practical examples and illustrations.
Highly reccommended to CCTV installers, integrators and consultants!
