Product Description
Phillip Done fixes staplers that won't staple, zippers that won't zip, and pokes pins in the caps of glue bottles that will not pour. He has sung "Happy Birthday" 657 times.

A witness to the joys of discovery, Done inspires readers with the everyday adventures and milestones of his 32 third graders in this irresistible collection of bite-sized essays. From the nervous first day of school to the hectic Halloween parade to the disastrous spring musical, Done connects what happens in his classroom to the universal truths that touch us all. He reminds us of the delight of learning something for the first time and of the value of making a difference.

32 Third Graders and One Class Bunny is for anyone who has ever taught children -- or been to third grade. It is a testament to the kids who uplift us -- and the teachers we will never forget. With just the right mix of humor and wisdom, Done reveals the enduring promise of elementary school as a powerful antidote to the cynicism of our times.

5 out of 5 stars I loved this book!   October 26, 2009
Jan Comsky
I read both of the Philip Done books, but the one I laughed my way through was 32 Third Graders and One Class Bunny. The stories and incidents he tells in this book regarding his students are hilarious and wonderful. I have a questions of Philip Done if he is reading this review - did your teacher friend every make you a dinner of lasagna? I read in the chapters ahead that his students parents made him a lasagna dinner, but didn't know if his teacher friend ever did.
I hope Philip Done writes another book. This was one fun read, and I enjoyed myself immensely.

5 out of 5 stars A fun commentary on children   September 20, 2009
Mom of two (Palo Alto CA)
Mr Done describes life with children- with all their unpredictability, and precious moments from the eyes of the child, filtered through those of an amazing teacher. Both kids and adults in our family laughed out loud, and were reminded of some of lifes great lessons.

5 out of 5 stars Phillip Done Does It Again!   September 3, 2009
C. Wait (San Jose, CA)
Phil Done is one amazing teacher/author! His love for kids and for the profession shine through on every page. He reaches all of us, whether teachers or just plain grown-ups who remember what it was like to be a kid. He tells his stories with warmth, humor and the wisdom of one who "gets" how children tick. How fortunate for the hundreds of youngsters who can say that "Mr. Done was their teacher." How fortunate for us that we can it experience it vicariously!

5 out of 5 stars Amusing and Delightful Reading!   August 24, 2009
C. L. Babbitt (Massachusetts)
I LOVED this book! As an aspiring teacher, I was looking for a few books on teacher motivation. I am into the self motivation and positive reinforcement stuff. When I saw the title of this book, it sparked my curiosity. The few pages I was able to read online as a teaser left me wanting more! I couldn't wait to order this book! When it arrived a few days later I immediately started reading it and soon found myself laughing out loud again and saying, "I love it!" once more. Philip Done's ability to capture "a day in the life" is done with humor, grace and love. His love for his class is so evident and his passion for teaching is crystal clear. The truthfulness in his writing is plain to see by anyone who knows a child. It took me back to my own childhood and I longed for its days of innocence. If you are considering this book, consider no more. Mr. Done's passion becomes a reward for everyone who has the good smarts to pick up this book and open the first page. This is a must read. Every teacher should read this book. It will reinforce the reasons why they chose to become teachers and will inspire them again should there be any doubt. Every parent should read this book. It will help them to gain an understanding and appreciation of what's inside of a teacher's heart. They will see that teachers are people too, who are dedicated to bringing out the best in each and every child, each and every day they are blessed to have them under their wings.

Great beach or rainy day reading. Funny and inspiring! Pass this one along.

5 out of 5 stars Wonderful   August 10, 2009

I received this wonderfully written book from a student at the end of the school year. As I read, the trials of the past year slipped away. Through Phillip Done I reconnected with all of the joys of teaching. Now as the new school year approaches, I find myself rereading this tale of life in a third grade classroom. I am excited for the new school year in a way that was absent in years past. Thank you Mr. Done for sharing your joy with us all.
