 It's OK but could have been much better September 1, 2009

This book covers a lot of material. It could have been great though with a few changes. Every diagram, sonogram, etc. should have been properly labeled and included the position of the transducer and notch location. This is supposed to be a beginning text. By properly labeling things the student can better learn how the image was made and then practice doing it in the lab. Instead, students are required to just memorize the diagrams. In addition there are some blatent mistakes in the text and discriptions of some of the images. This can be really confusing to new students. Text books need to be 100% correct. This is also an anthology with different chapters being written by different authors. This results in differences in writing styles and the depth of subjects being covered.

This book is an awesome resourse for someone who is just begining to learn ultrasound and need an overview of how the normal structures look like. It is very simple, consize, and easy to understand. IMHO the best feature this book has is the drawing of the visualized structures clearly marked, conveniently located right next to the actual sonographic image for comparison.

I believe a sound foundation in normal anatomy and physiology is the best course of study for the begininning sonography student. The textbook is clear, thorough and concise, and as a student who will be graduating next month, I highly recommend this book. I didn't find it until recently; I wish I had learned of this book earlier in my studies. Information on pathology would have been easier to absorb with a better foundation initially.
