Product Description This outstanding resource focuses specifically on material featured in the National Council of State Boards of Nursing's new 1998 CAT-NCLEX-RN test plan. Content is organized exactly according to the NCLEX test plan. Presented in an outline format, it comprehensively reviews all areas of nursing, including maternity, pediatric, medical-surgical, psychiatric, and gerontologic. Features: * A Practice Test follows each chapter, providing questions in NCLEX format, along with question categories, answers and rationales for both correct and incorrect answers, test taking strategies, and reference sources. * Introductory chapter provides students with an overview of the NCLEX-RN and test-taking strategies. * Unique to our book are pharmacology and medication administration chapters covering newly incorporated pharmacology information in the 1998 NCLEX-RN test plan, along with practice dosage calculation questions. * Other unique chapters include the NCLEX-RN Exam: A Student's Perspective, Acid-Base Balance, Fluids and Electrolytes, and Pediatric Medications and Calculations. * A computer disk includes the 2700 practice questions from the book, plus 600 additional practice questions and answers, providing significantly more questions than competing books. * Pyramids to Success provide an overview of the unit content and relate the material's importance to the 1998 NCLEX-RN examination; Pyramid Terms define important terms at the beginning of each unit and appear in bold in the outline; Nursing Process, a significant component of the new exam, outlines a general nursing care plan for specific symptoms; Client Needs identify related areas of content as identified in the new NCLEX-RN test plan. * Pyramid Points identify content that typically appears on NCLEX-RN.

Saunders NCLEX Review November 23, 2009 Danielle (Florida, USA) Great book. Outline type format, which makes it much easier and more interesting to read than other texts that we were required to purchase (ahem: Lewis and Wong oops...keys slipped? :)).Very thorough. It has become my bible. Love it. The person that I purchased it from was great too! Fast shipping, exactly as described, more than fair pricing. Overall I'm super happy with it. Thanks :)
Saunders NCLEX review is awesome November 10, 2009 S. R. wilson An old classmate of mines recommended this book to me for review. And I think it's GREAT!! I have learned more from this book than any other review book that I have purchased. I would recommend this book to others as well.
Good solid book October 29, 2009 W. Ciaccia (Baltimore, MD) I used this book for several weeks then ultimately took a Kaplan class. I found the questions to be as close to complexity and appropriateness as those from Kaplan. My suggestion is to definitely use the CD of questions because the chapter questions are too focussed on the specific areas discussed. The CD can mix it all up for you. I can't vouch if it helped me pass NCLEX, though, because I also took Kaplan. The best part of the book are all the topic reviews, in my opinion.
Best Investment I Ever Made... October 12, 2009 Delilah (Chicago, IL) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I don't usually write product reviews, but I felt so compelled to write about this book because it helped me out tremendously during nursing school and when I was studying for NCLEX... I purchased this book while I was in nursing school after an instructor of mine recommended it. I am sure glad that I took the advice. The book is a great review tool because it is in outline-style format. I love that the chapters are separated into categories (Cardiac, Respiratory, Mental Health, etc.), so it is easy to find just what you are looking for. I have to say though that the chapters aren't all-inclusive - it is NOT a Med-Surg text book, or like any nursing text book you have. This book contains only the most essential information - which is all that you need to know, really. The images and tables are all so very helpful as well. I used this book to prepare for all my exams, and did fairly well in all of them. I got "A"s and "B"s throughout nursing school (and one lone "C" - but that's because I probably did not use this book to study for that one class...) And if you must know, I graduated from nursing school mid-August '09 and took the NCLEX mid-September '09. I self-studied and passed the first time with 75 questions - without taking any expensive review classes. The only review books I used were this one, Saunders' Q&A Review and the Kaplan-NCLEX RN Exam 2010 that I borrowed from the public library (but I could care less for Kaplan's decision-making "strategies"). Don't bother spending $500 for silly review classes - all my friends said it was a waste of time and money. You're better off studying on your own. Overall, I highly recommend this book for all nursing students - it worked for me and it will definitely work for you as well! Good luck!
Useful tool for studying for the NCLEX September 30, 2009 Heather C. Hodges (Puyallup, WA) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I like the way the author explains things and clearly outlines what to do and what not to do when one encounters certain questions. It gives numerous useful tips, and I found it to be worth the money spent (used). However, I was disappointed in the seller from Amazon because my books condition was listed as "like new", and it had a handful of pages ripped out of it! I was not well pleased to say the least!
