Product Description Maximize Health At Every Stage of Your LifeIn Live Right 4 Your Type, physician and New York Times bestselling author Peter J. D'Adamo distills the voluminous data on blood type, physiology and metabolism into a series of fascinating observations and simple guidelines. Since his Eat Right 4 Your Type was published, new research has indicated that there is a blood-type profile for almost every aspect of our lives, and that knowing our profiles can help us each live a better life. Live Right 4 Your Type offers individualized prescriptions according to blood type and details: New data that looks at the importance of "secretor subtype" as a refinement to the blood type theoryThe use of blood type genetics to help understand the mind-body connectionExtensive new food listsNew prescriptive recommendationsRead by Robb Webb
Amazon.com Review The idea that blood type plays a role in health, wellness, and personality wasn't exactly new when Dr. Peter D'Adamo came out with Eat Right 4 Your Type in 1997. The idea had been around for most of the 19th century, and had gained quite a bit of currency in Japan. But it was a startling idea to most Americans, who made the book a bestseller that was translated into more than 40 languages and spawned a similarly successful sequel, Cook Right 4 Your Type. Now, Dr. D'Adamo--armed with new studies on genetic links between blood types, disease, and behavior--looks at the psychological and medical peculiarities that seem to predominate in one blood type or another. Type O's, for example, have lower than average amounts of a brain chemical called dopamine, leading to poor concentration, hyperactivity, and temper tantrums. A's tend to manufacture too much cortisol, a stress hormone that can lead to hypertension and has even been implicated in Alzheimer's disease and cancer. Type B's and AB's clear nitric oxide out of their systems faster, allowing them to calm down more rapidly than other blood types when stressed. Dr. D'Adamo offers detailed lifestyle modifications for each type, including exercise programs, long lists of food to either seek out or avoid, and suggested treatment of specific illnesses. Some of this gets pretty arcane, including his recommendation of bladder wrack (a seaweed) for ulcer treatment of Type O's. A big part of the appeal of this book series is that anyone reading it can become a participant by joining Dr. D'Adamo's blood-type registry at www.dadamo.com. Live Right for Your Type is peppered with testimonials from these registrants, giving the reader a sense that a true transformation in health, appearance, weight, and well-being is just a few diet and lifestyle changes away. --Lou Schuler

live right for your type October 7, 2009 P. Leva (New Jersey) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I was disappointed in the info in this book. I thought it was going to be informative and something that I could relate to and follow. It is just another book on what 'could' be. I do not think his work is substantiated to the point that one could believe in his so called 'findings'. Any reviews I read on this book was positive, encouraging and sounded like the good Dr. had something more solid.

This book came w/ a few marked items, but in very good shape. The markings were for my blood type so they came in handy. I liked the fact that I also helped a charity.
Excellent resource August 30, 2009 Danni (Tucson, AZ USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is an excellent resource for anyone following the blood-type diet. If you're deciding between purchasing this or the Eat right 4 your type, I would recommend getting this one. It contains most of the information from the first book but also has some more current info and gets into other aspects that I found very helpful.
The Book that Changed My Life July 6, 2009 D. Hulme (Sonoma, CA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I just finished reading LRFYBT and my husband and I have started eating according to Dr. D'Adamo's suggestions. My husband has been on many diets over the years and decided they do not work and he is right. Now we know why. You need to eat the food that is right for YOU. He is a type 0 and I am an A. I need to get my protein mainly from plant sources and my husband needs to eat small high animal protein meals and we both need to eat lots of fruits and vegetables and no wheat for him other than sprouted. This works for him. Seems crazy but we both are losing weight this way. I only needed to lose 5 pounds and I did in only a few days without any effort at all. He has a lot to lose but is well on his way, also effortlessly. This is really NOT a diet book but a way to eat that is right for your health which includes being the right weight.
This book is very comprehensive and easy to read and understand. The difference between this one and his previous Eat Right For Your Blood Type is that it includes exercise and emotional help and herbs and supplements to take for various problems. I am so grateful that I was told about the book. I also ordered the Cook Right For Your Blood Type and that further helps with meal planning especially since my husband and I are opposites, not really all that hard but takes some planning. It is empowering now to know that I am eating properly. Before it was all guess work.
A good addition to the collection June 18, 2009 Normajean Atkinson Another good informational book to go with the others in the series. A must have.
