Perfect little book on SQL November 9, 2009 Hal P (San Diego, CA) I wouldn't say it quite teaches SQL in 10 minutes, but it is just what I wanted. Excellent examples and very concise--makes it very easy to pick up a lot of commands very quickly.
Should not be purchased for Kindle October 24, 2009 Moe Greene 1 out of 3 found this review helpful
The important tips sections extend beyond the right edge of the screen even in the smallest font. These cannot be fully read. The table of contents cannot be individually selected and is therefore useless.
It might take a little longer than 10 minutes, but you WILL learn! October 20, 2009 elviswoman (Dallas, TX United States) As someone who has been dabbling in SQL queries for about a year now, I bought this book in hopes of getting a better understanding of the SQL language and being able to build more complex queries.
I really appreciate the basic language and layout of this book. It is written in plain english and vocabulary/acronyms are laid out using everyday terms. This builds sort of a foundation for the reader to ease into each section of the book using concepts from the previous section(s).
It's also nice to see the variations between the different DBMS spelled out in this book so you can apply the principles to whatever you are working on. I did not expect to see references to MS Access databases, yet the book was peppered with them.
I cannot speak for the experts in this field, but for beginners to intermediate users, this book is full of basic concepts that will help you learn and understand SQL and how to use it. I'd highly recommend.
Do not buy this for the Kindle 2!!! July 5, 2009 Diane J. Sutton (California, United States) 4 out of 7 found this review helpful
This book may be a great product but it does not work for Kindle 2! Most of the content was cut off in my reader. At first I thought it was the size of my text, but when i adjusted the size to the smallest, I still couldnt see large portions of the book.
nice and sweet June 24, 2009 Arun Janardhanan (NJ) Of course you can't finish the book in 10 minutes, but you can in a day or two. It's easy to read and covers the basics. I would have loved if each chapter had some advanced query exercises.
