Great little book. ONe of a series of 3 that are lovely little stories. My 2 yr old adores the stories and illustrations, while learning new words.

Some publishers have level one readers then they have a pre-reading and then an emergent reader underneath it, so you never know if a book is an "easy" reader for a first time reader until you pull it off the shelf & look at the wording inside. Rest assured, this is an easy reader that would not threaten a new reader.
My first grade daughter is a reluctant reader but is ga-ga over horses, so this was a good book to find. I wish we had found it in kindergarten! She was proud of herself for reading it entirely on her own the first time. We originally found it in the library but have our own copy now. She's got the confidence to move on to books with more complex sentences and words, but still likes to pull this one out and "read it all by herself."
