Perfect! October 7, 2009 Jody (Northwest Ohio) In Cat Heaven, every cat is greeted by an angel at the door of Heaven with a personal bowl of milk. All cats are welcomed on God's kitchen countertop for meals, lay on God's bed and never get stuck in trees because they can fly down. Never sappy, Cat Heaven touches on everything cats love; from curling up in laps to air full of catnip and cotton mice.
The pictures are wonderful, with all colors of angels and cats. The cats take center stage, and even though they are primitive and broad, somehow Ms. Rylant has managed to make her cats, well, cat-like. It is a marvelously comforting book for both children and adults grieving the loss of a beloved pet.
Cynthia Rylant understands cats and their unique relationship with people. There is no higher praise and this book would be a very thoughtful gift to anyone who is either on the brink of or who has lost a four-legged family member of the cat persuasion.
A lovely, spiritual take on the idea of heaven August 19, 2009 Katherine Hamilton-Smith (Libertyville, Illinois, USA) Cat Heaven is a lovely, thoughtful, wry book with images that are, themselves, like little poems. Highly recommended if you have a connection to cats and wonder where they go when they leave this world.
Nice, heartfelt July 21, 2009 shanasbananas (O'Fallon, MO USA) I bought this for my elderly grandma when her cat died. It made her feel much better. :)
The Perfect Book For Cat People June 23, 2009 MARILYN D. DRENNEN (Birmingham, AL United States) I have found CAT HEAVEN to be the perfect book to give someone that is mourning over their cat that has died. This is a precious book for reading to a child to help explan a beloved pet having to die. I have given this book as a gift several times, and it has always been reported back as very appreciated. I read this book to my kindergarten class of [...] year olds. This truly helped them with accepting the loss of a pet.
CAT HEAVEN , a beautiful book. June 6, 2009 B. harwood (bessemer al) After reading CAT HEAVEN to my 3 yr old granddaughter, my daughter bought and mailed this book to me. I had just recently lost my beloved kitty companion. I was still grieving over her. She and I had been constant companions, we shared a loving bond with each other. Each page of this book held a special meaning for me, especially the page about rubbing kitties' noses and ears. I held my little Crickett for hours and rubbed her little nose which she loved. I thank Cynthia Rylant for her beautiful book which soothes the hearts of children and grandmothers alike.
