Hand Bookbinding September 2, 2009 J. Kunz This book is very helpful and has step-by-step instructions accompanieed by diagrams. It also explains why you need to do certain things, such as mark the signatures, so that eventually you can adapt your own approach and style to bookbinding. I've never taken a class in bookbinding or anything like that, but I have been able to construct some beautiful books.
Hand bookbinding August 30, 2009 C. Cameron (Addison, ME USA) My fault - I had hopes that it would contain a hand method for tape-binding small booklets. Should have looked further.
A Great Resource February 25, 2009 Bonnie Brody (Fairbanks, Alaska) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I recently took a course on coptic bookbinding and want to continue with the craft. I looked for books that provided clear instructions for this art as well as covering other aspects of the craft.
This book has many sections on binding projects, rebinding old books and bookbinding tools and equipment, just what I was looking for. I wish it was in color but otherwise I find it a pleasure to look at and plan to use it when I as a resource when I make my next book.
It is clear enough for beginners and even experienced bookbinders will find it helpful.
hand bookbinding October 6, 2008 Aneesah Mcnamee (Adrian, Michigan) this is a classic book - get it if you find the one that is published in 1963 - i think that is it - they are roman numerals in the copyright!! hand drawn images and basic information that will always be handy - if you are a bookbinder/book lover/book creator - this is a must to have!
best book for beginners March 27, 2008 Bruce Leone (Louisville, Ohio USA) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I have purchased 6 books and 2 cd sets to get started in hand binding. This book by far will get you going with simple, straight forward instruction.
