Product Description
How to tap the power of social software and networks to build your business

In Trust Agents, two social media veterans show you how to tap into the power of social networks to build your brand's influence, reputation, and, of course, profits. Today's online influencers are web natives who trade in trust, reputation, and relationships, using social media to accrue the influence that builds up or brings down businesses online.

The book shows how people use online social tools to build networks of influence and how you can use those networks to positively impact your business. Because trust is key to building online reputations,, those who traffic in it are "trust agents," the key people your business needs on its side.

  • Delivers actionable steps and case studies that show how social media can positively impact your business
  • Written by authors with over ten years of online media experience
  • Shows you how to build and wield influence online to benefit your brand
  • Combines high-level theory with practical step-by-step guidance

If you want your business to succeed, don't sit on the sidelines. Instead, use the Web to build trust with your consumers using Trust Agents.

5 out of 5 stars An approach to business evolution and charges reader to "master tomorrow's radios."   November 20, 2009
Suzanne Dewey (Williamstown, MA USA)
Chris Brogan and Julien Smith's Trust Agents is a thoughtful, friendly and helpful book for anyone interested in understanding relationship building. Geared mostly for an on-line presence, the book is filled with rich examples, insight and suggestions for taking charge of your business life. If you are cubicle-bound and prefer to have someone else driving business decisions, this is probably not a book that will greatly interest you. But, if you are an entrepreneur or a small business owner trying to understand how to best utilize the internet, this well-organized book provides a game plan.

Suggesting six themes for action, Brogan and Smith, create a reasonable and rational framework. Their premise is that to become a "trust agent," a mix of strategies should be employed and hence the six themes that make up the bulk of the book:
* "Make Your Own Game" - discusses the need and value for creating a market advantage.
* "One of Us" - enumerates the value of being connected and demonstrating your interaction-ability to become accepted into new networks.
* The "Archimedes Effect" is about leverage, leverage and leverage.
* "Agent Zero" details the art and science of building networks.
* "Human Artist" - an argument for utilizing a new but important etiquette along with a solid understanding of human nature to serve all of your interactions.
* "Build Armies" - evokes the military analogy in a meaningful way to discuss reach, reputation and impact.

The book has several tips and tool recommendations to help the novice move forward. The authors' demonstrate one of their key points about being a "human artist" by using a friendly and nurturing tone throughout. By the time I finished the book, I felt like I knew these two individuals and could easily approach them and would not be re-buffed. I just might try that to see if they are good for their word!

I recommend this book for its approach to business evolution and its charge to "master tomorrow's radios" by remembering that innovation means creating a "perpetual lab" of experimentation. A good read with good ideas.

Chris Brogan is one of the most insightful and prolific commentators (blogging, tweeting, speaking)today in the social networking channel. His new book brings additional insight into personal branding and building trust online. I highly reccommend it on a number of levels.

Watch Video Here: http://www.amazon.com/review/R29VG6I7VVTOZ9 "Trust Agents" offers a refreshing look at how businesses can build relationships, communities and reputations on the web. It's packed with many great ideas on how to create conversations, provide value, and generate goodwill. I only hope that business owners will heed the authors' advice and not rely solely on web metrics and immediate ROI to judge the success of their online marketing.

5 out of 5 stars Trust Agents   November 5, 2009

This is a book that has somehow managed to hit every nail on the head. I'm in sales and I have little experience using the web to market myself and the companies I work with. Oddly enough for me, Chris Brogan's style on the web is exactly my style in person, and for that it makes the book an easy read... and it makes applying the principals in the book a no brainer. I loved it.
