I have spent years on the PC & migrated to Apple's MacBook recently. Thus I am a new Mac user & am becoming familiar with iPhoto. There's a lot to learn!
I found this book to be very helpful. It was easy to find the relevant topics; the Table of Contents is very detailed, extensive & descriptive. Once you locate the subject you want to address, the book leads you through each step in an easy to follow manner. The pages are loaded with pictures of the applicable iPhoto screens. The text was well organized & concise. This book does a great job of leading you through the steps to utilize the many tools available in iPhoto.
I was also impressed that the last Chapter in the book dealt only with "What Can I Do to Protect My Photos". These 26 pages described in detail the different methods you can use to preserve your photos, including backing up on cd's & dvd's, Apple's Time Machine with an external hard drive, iDisk, as well as other methods. This is an important topic for photographers & the subject was clearly communicated.

The Portable Genius book series set a high standard for user manuals. Liberally illustrated, excellent indexing and a orderly structure. Although I have used previous versions of iPhoto this book quickly introduced me to the new features such as place locations and facial recognition. This is the third book in the series I have purchased and all have been excellent. It is the nature of this type of book that it can not go deeply into a subject but the authors freely acknowledge the book boundaries. There are many alternative choices for advanced users that a reader has the option to pursue. Great work.

Well written, easy to put to use, very necessary to get full benefit out of iPhoto 09. I keep, it right by my computer, and use it almost every time i Open the iPhoto application. Well worth the price.
