Sleight of hand influence tactics September 13, 2009 M. Resnick 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
An obscure but welcome addition to the persuasion and influence genre. For sales and marketing books, this is one of the better titles I've perused through in recent months. If someone is great at selling something, these techniques are being used, whether you are aware of it or not. Dave Lakhani knows the topic extensively, and provides a crisp, no nonsense guide to absorbing some of the skills for your own arsenal. Plenty of explanations, exercises and applied application for everyday life situations to test your abilities. Powerful concepts explained with precise clarity, which you can either use in the field or educate yourself to know when they are being used to influence you. If you curious on the history of the techniques and how they've been honed and applied through the ages, pick up a copy of The Art of Seduction
5 star ratings from friends of the author July 27, 2009 Amazon Customer 2 out of 5 found this review helpful
I've always relied on Amazon customer reviews before I bought books from Amazon. But numerous 5 star ratings of this book were actually submitted by friends of the author promoting the book. I'm disappointed and I won't rely on Amazon's customer reviews anymore.
Bits and pieces. Disorganised and not helpful April 30, 2009 ServantofGod 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
A month ago I rated the same author's "Power of an hour" a three star with a review title "Relatively compleat, but can be deeper and better". So I gave this a try but had been very disappointed. Apparently the author had packed and summarized all that he read into individual topics. The result is a disorganised and shallow collection of diverse ideas that a reader can hardly recall or practice. If it were not for the CDROM and the reference reading in the end of each chapter (I read some of those books and so I can tell, ironically, they are good recommendations) I would have given it only one star. In short, please give this a pass.

Dave walks you through and shows you what other people have been doing to manipulate you over the years...Everyone is in the business of influence and this book shows you how to become a person of influence and see it when it is being done to you. This book gives you the tools you need to be a better persuader as well as the skill to protect yourself...it is a must for any person!
The Power of Words December 17, 2008 D. Osso (NY USA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This is one book that goes beyond images of pop corn flashing quickly on a movie screen. Dave Lakhani drives home the point indeed. The pen is mightier than the sword and effective word usage in copy writing can certainly do more than be read or heard. Their meaning can drive deep into the very psyche and heart of the reader. If you are selling anything out there, here is a hint - write your copy - read your copy -then read this book - then read your copy again - you will change it, guaranteed.
