Product Description Praise for Covert Persuasion: "This book is a treasure trove of ideas you can use to turn a 'no' into a 'yes' almost instantly-in any sales situation." -Brian Tracy, speaker and author of Create Your Own Future and Change Your Thinking, Change Your Life "Hogan is the master of persuasion. I urge you to persuade yourself to buy this book and everything he's ever written and recorded. It will help you understand yourself, understand others, and succeed. This information is bankable." -Jeffrey Gitomer, author of The Sales Bible, Little Red Book of Selling, and Little Red Book of Sales Answers "There's more wisdom in this book than in 500 pages on the same subject. Whether you need to persuade your lover, your spouse, your boss, your clients, your friends, or yourself, this powerhouse collection of mind tricks and secrets will give you the upper hand. In today's competitive world, this is the persuasion wizard's manual you need to control circumstances and get what you want." -Dr. Joe Vitale, author of Life's Missing Instruction Manual and The Attractor Factor "When you read Hogan's writing, it feels like you're getting sage advice from a master. Would you like other people to decide on their own (or so they think) to go along with your every whim? Then this is the book you've been looking for." -David Garfinkel, author of Advertising Headlines That Make You Rich "There is more practical information on the dynamics of selling and communication in these pages than you could ever acquire in a lifetime on your own through trial and error. Take advantage of the authors' wisdom and read this book!" -Todd D. Bramson, Certified Financial Planner and author of Real Life Financial Planning

Should have guessed- anything endorsed by the fake "DR" Joe Vitale... November 16, 2009 D. Fraser I should have guessed or followed my instinct. I bought this book, overriding my better judgement when I saw that one of the endorsements came from "Dr." Joe Vitale, a fake doctor who calls himself a "Doctor of Metaphysics" and jumps on board all these types of books. I found this book useless and nothing more than a basic primer for basic sales 101. All of this stuff has been covered throughout the years ad nauseum... And repackaging it with a new and catchy title isn't going to raise this book above the rest of the pack, only pry money out of your wallet thinking they are on to something new and unique... Again, I should have followed my hunch when I saw the fake Doctor Vitale endorsement...
This book is ok, but not very fulfilling... September 10, 2009 Warren R. Grayson (Birmingham, AL United States) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I write this book having also read What Everybody Is Saying by Joe Navarro & Marvin Karlins (5 stars) and Influence by Robert Cialdini (4 Stars) all in the span of a couple of weeks. This book is not as good as these two. It is written, I presume, for the eager salesman looking for tricks but comes off as rather lame in this regard. Really, everything in it is just plain obvious to anyone who has ever been 'sold' to before (which is everyone). Skip this and read Influence instead.
Some Synthesis, but Worth the Read July 25, 2009 D. Pulse 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
The book is fairly dense, and seems to rehash some previously covered material from "Psychology of Persuasion", however I found the material surveyed to be interesting and the references were sound. The examples of stories being used to persuade is definitely worth checking out. (Chapter 9).
trivial tactis, plenty of commonplace July 24, 2009 Ame (Italy) 5 out of 8 found this review helpful
I found this book pretty useless, both for sales people and even less for people who are not concerned with selling. The advices are just commonplaces, there are no examples and it's boring and redundant. I advice to buy other books if you are interested in selling techniques , for ex. I found "Solution selling" was way better.
Common Sense Guide to the Power of Persuasion July 10, 2009 Larry Underwood (Scottsdale, AZ) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
In order to get the most out of life, it's important to understand the principles to use to get the most out of any negotiation. This book, written by Kevin Hogan, delivers a solid base of information designed to do just that, and what I like about it is the fact that it's really based on common sense.
Granted, "common sense" has taken a leave of absense in many sectors of society, but I'm heartened by its reemergence in explaining a wide variety of issues, recently; from political, to social, to economic; and finally, to the realm of psychological "tactics" designed to make every situation become a (perceived) win-win for everyone; and perception is reality.
The key is to focus on winning the game while making the opponent feel like the victor. This isn't rocket science, but it definitely comes in handy from time to time; after all, not everyone will trust you, no matter how sincere you look.
