Great for teaching to read! November 18, 2009 K. Tripp I LOVE these books. My son & I worked on these, when he was learning to read. They are such great teaching tools. He worked through all the levels. I highly recommend.
Ingenious books November 12, 2009 Gyorgyi Gyarmati (USA) I have just purchased and introduced these books to my 4 years old daughter.
After a little practice she started to read them. What I noticed is that these
books promote memorizing patterns and using phonics at the same time.
My beginning reader can rely on familiar patterns, and have to figure out
only one or two new letter to get a new word. These books started her from knowing her phonics
(not even an excellent, but a good level) to making words of those sounds. I can tell you for sure
that she did not get how to put together words from sounds before Bob books. After going through the first book together she learned how to do it.
Very well done books. I cannot compare to other books of this kind, but Bob books are worth a try.
Better than anything out there and we own over 1000 kid books. November 10, 2009 Green Eyed Eagle (W.P.B.) Great use of learning phases..each book teaches a little more about reading. Most prereaders confuse a child with a hard word that doesn't fit the level of the book. Books are consistant, they build confidence, my little boy enjoys them and the pictures are cute. He just started kindergarten and is reading 4 bob books a night. (his choice). These are on loan from a friend whos little girl started on the Bob books and is reading at a 3rd grade level in 1st grade. The best investment you will ever make.
Great start. November 8, 2009 irish girl These were great starter books for my son. Easy to read & phonetically based. Easy to sound out. Illustrations are lacking, but that's my only complaint. My son feels more confident after he read a few of these books on his own.
Bob Books, Set 1: Beginning Readers October 22, 2009 Eoin J. Ryan (Ypsilanti, MI, USA) This is an excellent series. This series bridges the gap between non-readers and many of the "Level 1" readers out there. My 4-year daughter took some months on and off to get through Set 1, but she is in the process of going through Set 2 in a week. We take turns reading. I read her a few pages from a chapter book and she reads one Bob book. When she successfully reads a specific Bob Book, I write it "read by" and the date and she loves to check it off of her Bob Book checklist.
