| Customer Reviews: Attack of the Clone October 28, 2009 Kellyannl (Bronx, NY USA) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
With Kimihiro Watanuki having been knocked out of the dreamworld - which is just as well considering that Holic hasn't indicated that he has any abilities that would be of use against the Syaoran clone - the kids face the creature that is one step away from the puppetmaster causing all their grief. So begins Syaoran's battle to stop the clone's rampage, protect Sakura, and salvage Fai's last chance at a life without physical dependency on Kurogane.
Meanwhile, the men wait anxiously for a sign of what is happening. But Fai has one last secret he hasn't fessed up to Kurogane about which this time doesn't involve himself - and when all is over, only one of the kids are back with their foster parents again.
The Syaoran clone was a great plot twist, and most of us were willing to go with Fai's story even though CLAMP had to some extent been there and done that with the Sumeragi twins. But the twist in this volume is likely to be a bit too much for some fans. In addition, there's a development with Seishiro that just doesn't compute with our knowledge of him as a sadistic psychopath in Tokyo Babylon/X and the context of the AU people being that their core is the same in all worlds in spite of their different experiences.
We do have some hope, though. Kurogane has a little talk with Tomoyo about preparations for mopping the floor with a certain evil wizard who needs a little comeuppance - which is what everything should be about at this point. Leave it to Daddy to know best.
