Good Common Sense Advice On How To Eat Healthy And Lose Weight September 22, 2009 Chris Luallen (Nashville, Tennessee) I have never been a big fan of diets. But, on the recommendation of my doctor, I decided to check out this book. The truth is I am really impressed by it. It's not some kind of fad diet that asks you to follow a strict program of eating only certain foods. But rather more like common sense advice on how to eat healthy and lose weight at the same time.
The basic idea is that American society has become riddled with obesity largely because people have stopped eating natural foods and instead eat processed foods, especially those with high levels of refined sugar. It gives advice on what foods to eat, such as fruits, vegetables, lean meats, whole wheat bread and pasta, etc. while avoiding too many sweets, refined flour and a few other things.
It's really about returning to the diet that has sustained humanity over the ages and getting away from the highly processed foods that we have come to depend on. To me this is good advice and something I feel will enable me to achieve better health and weight loss over the long term. Recommended!
Couldn't Get Through It. September 21, 2009 ButterflyGirl (Florida) This book has a lot of good information in it however it seems like there TOO much. It's written more for doctors or other people with similar backgrounds - lots of technical terms. My husband and I tried doing the diet they recommend but we lasted about 2 weeks. We're vegetarians and were hungry all the time (We aren't usually. Its just that we couldn't eat a lot of starches anymore and other foods.). It just wasn't for us. The explanations (what I understood from them) made a lot of sense. I wish we could've followed it but we couldn't.
Amazon-- Great!!!! SugarBusters--Not so great September 2, 2009 B. Hansen (Knoxville TN) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I received this book in above average time. So Amazon's part was good. The book however was not so good. It does give a lot of science behind WHY sugar busters is a good choice, but that is where the bounty of information stops. It gives you a somewhat skimpy list of what you can and can't eat, but it tells you nothing about portions. It just says a regular plate, and don't go back for seconds. Well, duh. It doesn't even give you a number of carbs to have a day, or a what percentage of your daily calories the carbs should be. All in all it was a bit dissapointing. I am still following their food lists, but i "do my own thing" when it comes to amounts and daily counts.

This book was ordered over a month ago and I still have not recieved it. When I inquired about it, the seller thought that maybe the post office delivered the book and left notification and I just didn't know it. I felt like they we calling me an idiot. I have not recieved this book and it was not delivered to me.
