Product Description
Written in a conversational style, the 3rd edition of the ACLS Study Guide features unique, user-friendly, and easy to remember treatment algorithms - totally revised to reflect the 2005 emergency cardiac care guidelines. Full-color throughout, it offers a complete, concise overview of advanced cardiovascular life support (ACLS), acute coronary syndromes, and acute stroke. It also features easy-to-access information with Stop and Review quizzes in each chapter and a comprehensive pretest and posttest. New to this edition are a handy ACLS quick-reference fold-out card, a heart rate ruler, and more! In addition to being an outstanding study tool, the ACLS Study Guide, 3rd Edition is the official text for the American Safety and Health Institute ACLS certification course. For more information on ASHI courses, call 800-246-5101 or visit www.ashinstitute.com.

  • A pretest and posttest, each containing 50 questions with answers and rationales, provide readers with opportunities to check comprehension prior to and after study.
  • Chapter Objectives allow readers to preview the main points in each chapter.

4 out of 5 stars Very informative - a little more info than necessary   March 23, 2009

The book is very thorough and will certainly fill in any knowledge gaps you might have. I used the book to review the ECG analysis, but I wouldn't recommend reading through the entire book unless the material is completely unfamiliar to you. Focus more on the AHA handbook (case studies and pre-test). Your time will be better served in this manner without being overloaded.

5 out of 5 stars Very in-depth   March 1, 2009

As an instructor, I am always looking for new things to teach in class. This book is full of almost anything you would want to know about ACLS and has been a great compliment to my classes.

This study guide is excellent for new healthcare providers wanting a comprehensive review of all aspects of ACLS, not just the basics. I recommend it for new nurses looking to increase their skill level.

5 out of 5 stars Very Good Study Guide/Resource Book   September 6, 2008

I took the ACLS class and passed with flying colors with the help of this book and the AHA book with dvd. I took this class for continuing education credit only. I do not work in the hospital, but I wanted to know what was done in emergent care. I passed ACLS the first time because:

1. I did not have to "reprogram" myself as this was my first time ever taking an ACLS class and
2. I like to study at least from three different resources/perspectives to really grasp important concepts...sometimes someone else can explain things better, and a Lightbulb will light up!

I FOUND THIS BOOK EXTREMELY HELPFUL TO ME!! Even though I do not work in acute care, and know you have to apply what you learn (through the case simulations), I was PROUD that I had acquired a thorough grasp of the concepts presented thanks to this author and AHA. I am very grateful to all the brave medical and nursing personnel who have the guts and smarts to do this type of work everyday. GOD BLESS YOU ALL!!!
