Product Description
This must-have workbook helps students learn the prioritization and delegation skills needed to survive nursing school, pass the NCLEX-RN® examination, and make the transition to practice in today's healthcare environment. Consisting of three parts plus an answer key, this resource provides numerous opportunities for students to review cases and answer questions similar to those they will see on the NCLEX-RN examination - including questions in alternate-item formats . Part 1, written by delegation expert Ruth Hansten, is an introduction that provides a practical review of clinical delegation skills and serves as a framework for the exercises that follow. Part 2 consists cases of patients who have relatively straightforward health problems followed by NCLEX examination-style questions focusing on prioritization, delegation, and assignment. Part 3 consists of complex, unfolding cases involving patients who have multiple health conditions, as well as complex patient assignments.

5 out of 5 stars Great for Nursing Mangement Class   November 8, 2009
booklover (pa)
I purchased this book (2006 edition) during my Med/Surg class and realized that this wasn't exactly the study guide I needed. Now I am taking a nurse management class and this book is priceless. The entire focus of the book is "management of care" as found on the NCLEX exam. The book is not very thick (only around 200 pages) but it is full of NCLEX style questions. The first half of the book offer's NCLEX questions based on system (respiratory, endocrine, cardio, etc) then the second half presents case studies with questions following. Until I started taking a management class that specifically dealt with prioritization, delegation and assignment , I could not fully appreciate this study book. Many people disagree and struggle with management questions because sometimes what is done in the work place does not agree with the text book answers given on the NCLEX exam. One must learn how to answer questions the NCLEX way in order to pass. I noticed that a new addition (2010) of this book is begin released (can pre-order now) so perhaps wait for that addition if you can. It is my understanding that starting in April 2010 the percentage of management questions on the NCLEX exam is increasing therefore understanding prioritization, delegation, and assignment is critical to the nursing student.

4 out of 5 stars Very Good Review Book   September 19, 2009
Timewarpone (Lompoc, California)
My wife is currently studying for her NCLEX RN test. She asked me to get this for her because she felt that she was weak in Prioritization. She told me that while the book does not cover every aspect of prioritization, it is still a very good source of information. She highly recommends this book.

5 out of 5 stars A must for NCLEX   July 5, 2009
S. Boudreaux (harrisonburg, va)
This book, in addition to the Saunders comprehensive review helped me prepare for NCLEX better than any other. As everyone knows, delegation is HUGE on NCLEX, so having a book that is nothing but delegation questions was very benificial.

It is possible with this book to learn how to answer grey area questions in delegation and priority in NCLEX exam. Great resource.

This book came highly recommended by a NCLEX review program. I Found it very challenging and from what I have heard extremely helpful for Boards prep.
