Has the info, but dry October 23, 2009 Rima Kasprzak Good info, but no personal touch. Dry and hard to stay engaged, and when it references charts in other parts of the book, it doesn't give the page numbers. Better know your fundies before tackling this book, it assumes you know a lot already.
Full of good information, but also contains gross errors October 16, 2009 Michelle Long (Boise, ID) This book was required for my nursing program. I initially found it very helpful in learning the concepts required for the course. Then I found this startling error:
On page 512:
Under the heading "Blood Supply," the last sentence of the first paragraph states "The pulmonary veins return oxygenated blood to the superior vena cava of the heart." Then, the last sentence of the second paragraph states "Deoxygenated blood returns from the bronchial circulation through the azygos vein into the left atrium."
This is entirely incorrect. The sentences should read:
"The pulmonary veins return oxygenated blood to the LEFT ATRIUM of the heart."
and
"Deoxygenated blood returns from the bronchial circulation through the azygos vein into the SUPERIOR VENA CAVA."
I find this mistake particularly galling in the SEVENTH EDITION of this book. It also causes me to second guess the accuracy of the information in the textbook overall, which is distracting when I am studying for an exam.
I gave the book 2 stars instead of 1 as I have indeed been using it to study for the 3 exams I have taken in the course, so far, and I have passed them with flying colors, so it is clearly full of good information, too.
Excellent text and reference September 22, 2009 M. Chapin this books full of good information. the format is easy to use and the index is very detailed. it is very helpful when preparing for clinicals.
inaccurate description September 20, 2009 Shizuka Buckner I was slightly disappointed with this purchase because the text book that I had ordered was not in as good of condition as I had expected. The binding is nearly falling off and there is highlighting bleeding through every page of the text which was under reported in the description. It is very used and I don't see how anyone could thing this would be in adequate condition to resell. However, the shipping time was great, but that was expected because it was shipping from a company an hour outside my address.
didn't come September 3, 2009 Samantha Kim I have been waiting for this book for over 3 months now... I still haven't received it... =( Please send it, now if you can.
