Product Description
The Nurse, the Math, the Meds strongly emphasizes the simplicity of the dimensional analysis method and how it can significantly help students who have math anxiety to minimize and/or eliminate medication errors when calculating drug dosages. This text presents the concepts and topics in a clear, concise manner and highlights the benefits of using dimensional analysis over other drug calculation methods. The content is on the cutting edge of the drug calculations market and includes many unique features not found in ANY other drug calculations text. Furthermore, this text has been extensively reviewed for content and math accuracy. * A math review section prior to chapter one which will also include a self-assessment test. * Each Chapter begins with a learning objectives, equipment needed, estimated time for completion, introduction and essential vocabulary. * Use of learning theory, building from what is already known and applying it to new material * Rapid Practice Sheets - worksheets with the first problem worked out followed by 2-5 problems for one sitting of practice. Time-saving learning techniques are also included where applicable such as shortcuts to reduce clinical calculation time, helpful formulas, mnemonic devices and more. * A special margin section provides space for students to work out their problems. * FAQ and Answers included in each chapter derived from classroom questions * Ask Yourself questions let the reader self-check comprehension of prior segments of new material. * Sample nurse/patient dialogue for effective/accurate drug administration

3 out of 5 stars not as listed   August 11, 2009
Allison Scurria
This book was listed as "new" so naturally I expected to receive a NEW book. While the book is in good condition, upon receiving it I immediately noticed it had been used because there were post-it notes tabbing pages. There is also some highlighting on the pages.

5 out of 5 stars Great help for my nursing classes   October 25, 2008
M. A. Paderna (CA)
This book really helped me with medication calcluations and has a variety of problems that you will or may encounter in nursing

5 out of 5 stars A+   August 6, 2008
Stan Rocklin (Mesa, AZ USA)
I give this text an A +. so far. Has a variety of great questions, problems and examples to help the whole process and logic sink in, talks to me in an easy-to-understand way. I saw some other texts that
don't compare. S. Rocklin

5 out of 5 stars Excellent text   May 14, 2008

This book illustrates the relationship of the math to clinical practice better than any other text I saw. We don't attend clinical until after the math for medications is completed. The vocabulary definitions also are very helpful.

2 out of 5 stars Not so great   February 14, 2008

I am only on the first chapter of this book and have already found MANY mistakes in the answer key for the "rapid practice" problems. I don't like that the pages are all perforated and can be torn out as if it were a workbook, not a text book. For this reason, among others, it was really overpriced. Also, very displeased with the online access tools. I took the time out of my studies to register and come to find out I don't get access to anything helpful. I believe that the online access registration was just a ploy to get my address and other personal information. Not happy with this book at all so far.
