Product Description A classic in the field of nursing theory! This renowned textbook guides the reader through in-depth descriptions and analyses of 31 specific nursing theories many reviewed and validated by the theorists themselves in a logical, consistent chapter organization that makes information easy to follow. Its comprehensive and thorough approach, objective critiques, and clear writing style make it ideal for the study of theory at all levels of nursing. Twelve new chapters and updated material throughout this edition provide a wealth of information on the most current and cutting-edge ideas in nursing theory today. * Each theorist chapter presents that individual's work in a logical, consistent framework, making the information easy to follow. * A Major Concepts & Definitions box in each theorist chapter outlines and summarizes the theory's most significant ideas, while also clarifying content-specific vocabulary. * Each theorist chapter is written by one or more scholars specializing in that particular theorist's work, often individuals who have worked closely with the theorist. * Whenever possible, chapters have been reviewed and edited by the theorists themselves for currency and accuracy. * An extensive bibliography at the end of each theorist chapter outlines numerous primary and secondary sources of information for further research. * Critical Thinking Activities at the end of each theorist chapter challenge students to apply the theory to personal and hypothetical practice situations. * Beginning chapters on the history and philosophy of science, l

MS/N Candidate Review April 21, 2009 Sue O 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Returned to school to work on my Masters in Nursing and many of the theorists did not exist when I was in my RN program. This book provides easily accessable info and is a great reference. Used and cited it in 2 papers and recieved excellent feedback from prof for using this reference.
Would highly recommend it!

nursing students who need theorists November 20, 2008 Jeffrey K. Dillard (Nixa Missouri) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
for any nursing student who needs a detailed source for nursing theorists this is the book to get. I purchased this book when I was required to come up with a different theorist each week to link with my clinicals that I was doing. It made the job much easier and I didn't have to repeat any of the theorists the entire semester.
Very good condition September 30, 2008 TravelBuff (Missouri City, TX) I received this book a lot faster than anticipated and it was in very good condition. It almost looked brand new.
Great Resource October 30, 2007 Jane Reader (Albemarle, NC United States) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This textbook is a great resource for nurses studying theory from many different specialty areas.
Not tops in its class January 29, 2007 GasPasser (Brooklyn, NY United States) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
Just remember, this is not a comprehensive work and you will have to constantly review the bibliography and look things up. The writing can be wordy and difficult to understand. Not a top choice of mine for nursing theory.
