Content may be ok, but poorly constructed. October 8, 2009 ektrules I don't know if it's just my book, but I keep accidentally ripping the pages out when I turn them. They just fall out with the slightest tug. I've probably ripped out about 10 pages now. And it's a new book, not used. A book that costs this much should not be so crappily made. It pisses me off because this thing has to last me another year of math courses. I've been using Elmer's glue on the edges to put the pages back :)
As far as the content, I don't know. I don't have any other Calculus text-book to compare it to. I am finding it extremely hard to understand, but that's probably because it's a hard subject, and I'm not mathematically inclined.
Comprehensive and well-written June 22, 2009 Jonathan Baltazar 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This book makes learning calculus easy by providing many examples(mostly graphs) and by explaining different approaches to problems. The only drawback is that it is huge, but I didn't count off for that, because most books on the subject are big.
Pretty good book June 12, 2009 Gabriel Delgado (Miami, FL USA) I've gone through a few other Calculus books, but this one makes the subject a little easier to grasp. However, it certainly has its flaws, just like most other text books in this area of study. Calculus is by no means an easy course, so anything that helps just a little bit certainly is welcome.
Wonderful Buy! May 27, 2009 Jared Palfreeman 1 out of 4 found this review helpful
I was extremely satisfied with the Textbook that I received. The book was in perfect condition and even though I did have a couple questions about the shipping, I received an answer from the sender quickly. I would definitely do business with this person again.
Newer isn't always better January 6, 2009 Juan A. Ramos (Miami, FL) 3 out of 6 found this review helpful
My college required an older version of this book (I believe it has an integral symbol on it) and from what I was told, it had typos everywhere and it kept messing everyone up. people got furious, others had to buy quicknotes, and most had to depend on their calculator.
I was the fortunate "test" class, that is, the author gave them to a handful of professors and told them to test it out on their students. A bunch of us got the books (paperback) and we went through the class. I was fortunately taking the class as an audit, so I couldn't fail. It was easy enough to grasp with the professor's explanation (then again, she did integrals in her head to relax) and then once we looked inside, we began to weep. The book was NOTHING like the professor's explanation. In fact, the book served to make it harder than the explanation. It looked great, but pretty doesn't fly in a math class. Long story short, I bought calculus for dummies and the accompanying practice manual and did pretty well. For only a fraction of the price and a fraction of the headache you too can learn calculus the Dummie's way! =)
