Product Description
With the spate of publicity surrounding the possible health risks posed by childhood immunization, parents are no longer simply following doctor's orders and automatically having their children vaccinated. Instead, they are asking questions. The problem is the search for answers only leads parents to conflicting, one-sided information: doctors claim that parents are endangering their child's life if they refuse shots, while radical vaccine opponents claim parents are endangering their child's life if they accept shots. With THE VACCINE BOOK, parents finally have one, fair, impartial, fact-based resource they can turn to for answers. Each chapter is devoted to a disease/vaccine pair and offer a comprehensive discussion of what the disease is, how common or rare it is, how serious or harmless it is, the ingredients of the vaccine, and any possible side effects from the vaccine. Ultimately, parents will have to make their own informed decisions as Dr. Bob Sears is neither pro-vaccine nor anti-vaccine. But THE VACCINE BOOK will provide exactly the information parents want and need as they make their way through the vaccination maze.

5 out of 5 stars A Must Have!   November 19, 2009
mom of 7 (San Gabriel, cal)
Wonderful book! Finally someone actually has done some research on this topic. He gives us the info and let's us make a decision. He does say what he thinks, in case you are left clueless. Thank you, Dr. Bob, for this book.

5 out of 5 stars The Vaccine Book   November 15, 2009
New Mama (Houlton, WI, USA)
This book was wonderfully informational. My husband and I were quite uncertain about which vaccines we should give our new baby girl. This book provided an unbiased, detailed summary of the different vaccines that are out there and explained why they are given. Parents are able to make educated decisions for their children by reading this book. I found it very helpful.

5 out of 5 stars A must read for every parent.   November 12, 2009
Miss Mary
Even if you decide to follow the standard vaccination schedule, this is a great book (remember that this book does not tell you what to do, but it gives you the info you need on all the vaccines to make an educated decision). He details the pros and cons of your decision about every vaccine, and tell you exactly the statistics of every disease, and potential risk. Reading this book won't hurt, but it will teach you tons of things to know, so you can actually talk to your pediatrician and understand the risks and benefits of every vaccine.

5 out of 5 stars Great book   October 24, 2009
S. Oakley (Oklahoma City, OK)
My son was coming up for his one yr check up and I wanted to get more information on vaccines. This book was very informative! He starts off by telling you about the disease your vaccinating from, whether or not it's serious, why people do and do not vaccinate for that particular disease, what the vaccine is made up of, are the ingredients controversial, and what his opinion is on the vaccine. He gives you all the info you need to make an educated decision. I talked to my doctor about putting my son on an alternative vaccine schedule. Good buy!

5 out of 5 stars Thnak you! Finally something that is NOT "hysterical"   October 8, 2009
L. Olsen
I've read many books about vaccines- but they are "all or none", "pro" or "anti". Which has been very frustrating- and frightening. Dr. Sears uses no scare tactics either way. He lays out each vax, pros and cons. Then goes through rational analysis of studies he has researched. He doesn't minimize or exaggerate the risks of vaccinations or of skipping them. And I VERY MUCH appreciate his acceptance that it is up to the parents. Whether you vaccinate or not you should be FULLY INFORMED. THanks, Dr. Sears
