Product Description Popular author and Bible teacher Dee Brestin draws on her own grief experience to help readers find their way into the arms of God during times of pain and loss. Brestin demonstrates how speaking the truth to our souls with the help of psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs can calm the grieving heart and help it rest like a child in the arms of a loving parent.

Customer Reviews: Soothing October 18, 2009 D. Lano 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I read this book in one night. So many stories gripped me, kept me turning pages. I remember one where she was curled up into a fetal position in her bed, sobbing for the Lord to be with her. But she felt completely alone, abandoned. A memory came to her of when she was a first time mom, trying to calm her baby and to get him to nurse. He would wail and fight her, despite her attempts. Finally he would nurse, his eyes would go to half mast, and he would be calmed -- and she thought, "I was right here - Pumpkin -- what was all that about?" Then she sensed the Lord telling her that He was right there...the next morning the psalm she happened to be on was Psalm 131: "I have calmed and quieted my soul -- like a weaned child with its mother."
I'd recommend this book to anyone -- to help themselves get through painful times or to be wise in helping those they love. It's a great read and will really help.
Soul Warming October 12, 2009 C. Anderson Looking to grow closer to God for a number of specific reasons. This woman's heartfelt account of the days and years following the tragic loss of the love of her life was tender and gentle. Very uplifting - yet left me drained at times and wet with with tears. The references to the psalms were exceptionally helpful.
Overall, a wonderful read for anyone looking to find a way closer to God, especially after the untimely loss of a loved one.
Hope! September 29, 2009 L. Arnold 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This book is such a blessing! I have been using it as a study and have been soaking it up! It really has helped me to see how much I've relied on myself and things of this world rather than my faith and the comfort found in the truths of the Word of God. Dee has shared her immense grief, walking the reader through that process and in doing so has shown God's presence every step of the way.
