Product Description Lisbeth Salander—the heart of Larsson’s two previous novels—is under close supervision in the intensive care unit of a Swedish city hospital. She’s fighting for her life in more ways than one: when she’s well enough, she’ll stand trial for three murders. With the help of her friend, journalist Mikael Blomkvist, she will have to prove her innocence, and to identify the corrupt politicians who have allowed the vulnerable, like herself, to suffer abuse. And, on her own, she will plot her revenge—against the man who tried to kill her and the government institutions that very nearly destroyed her life.
Once upon a time, she was a victim. Now Lisbeth Salander is ready to fight back.

Reviews from Brizmus Blogs Books November 13, 2009 A. Baker (Paris, France) This third installment in Stieg Larsson's Millenium Trilogy (which was originally meant to contain twelve books; due to Stieg Larsson's premature death caused by a tragic and brutal heart attack, it became a trilogy) is easily the best of the bunch.
Stieg Larsson is a genious. And there is no doubt in my mind that, in time, he will become known as one of the best crime thriller writers of all time. If not the very best. It made me step back and go "whoa!" on more than one occasion.
There is something complex and magical about the simplicity of his writing. Every word and every sentence flows easily into the next as we follow each of the characters through basically every step of their everyday lives (which, I must say, are nothing at all like my everyday life). At one point in time, we are follow six whole stories at the same time; never once does it seem daunting or overwhelming (even with all those crazy Swedish names). Never once did I feel lost, and I cared equally about all of the stories and their interconnections. Not one small thing is left out, and yet there manages to be nothing superfluous about the content.
Because we get to see each of the characters at their best and their worst, doing some of the most mundane things, we grow to know them and all of their complexities without even realizing it. I can easily say, without even giving it a second though, that Lisbeth Salander is the most real and unique heroine I have ever read. And Mikael Blomkvist is up there with one of the most believable, unique heroes I have ever read.
Even the secondary characters are well thought-out, well-developed, integral parts of the story.
This is a story about being on the wrong side of corruption and about fighting for the basic rights that come with being a human being. It is a crime thriller, to be sure, but this book is accessible to everyone (well, grown-ups at least). Stieg Larsson's to the point way of presenting all the facts one after the other will, without out a doubt, leave the reader open-mouthed at the edge of their seat until the very end. And even though, as this is the last of the three, everything is tied up nicely, with no loose ends so to speak, the reader can't help but crave for more.
Excellent, wish there was another! November 13, 2009 C. Kendall This was another outstanding book in the series. I think that all three of the books were very well written and an altogether outstanding read. Highly recommend all three and wish there were more.
NOT IN U.S.? November 12, 2009 Belinda Geiger (Los Angeles, CA USA) 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
Why can't we get this book yet? I've been waiting and waiting. PLEASE GET THIS FOR U.S. READERS. The Girl Who Played with Fire and The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo were fabulous. Don't leave us out.
So sad that this is the end! November 11, 2009 Gentle Reader (NY) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Since I was going to be in Belgium for a few days, #1 on my list of things to do was to get this book. It will not be released in the US for quite some time (does anyone know why???!!!) and I knew that it was available on the continent. Well, sure enough, there it was in the Amsterdam airport, and I bought it first thing -- even before going through passport control. Do you know how some music reminds you of a certain time and place? This book will forever remind me of Belgium. I read the first book in the trilogy last spring while I was in NY, and as soon as I was done, I sent to London for the second installment. Though I have waited almost 6 months for the third part of the trilogy, I am happy to say that I wasn't disappointed. Hornet's Nest picks up almost exactly where part two left off. Though the prognosis seemed dim for Lisabeth, there was no doubt in my mind that she would live to play a central role in the denouement of the trilogy. Though she is down through most of the book (quite literally, since she is hospitalized), she is not out, and through the help of Blomkvist, she is able to actively participate in the unraveling of the central mystery -- who was ultimately responsible for Lisabeth's "incarceration" and why. The book is so readable, that I actually got up early and crept into a corner of my hotel in order to finish it. And when I was finished, I immediately started reading it again. I am so sad that Larsson is not with us to continue the brilliant pairing of Salander and Blomkvist. Who know where this wonderful partnership would have gone.
