My daughter's "Favorite Book Ever" October 22, 2009 Elizabeth Parent (New York) All I can say is my daughter (just 2) insists on sleeping with this book or the Best First Book every night. And in reading one of them every morning and evening. She loves being able to identify things that she and her family and friends do everyday, and the things she sees in her emerging world. I will give these as first Birthday presents from now on.
Richard Scarry's Best Word Book Ever October 7, 2009 Cecilia Turriff I got this for my 3 month old grandson as his mother (my daughter) grew up on it and so did her brother. For some unknown reason, the kids just love it. No story to it...just a lot of pictures which they stare at for minutes and really enjoy. I think it helped my kids be early readers and early talkers. I never forgot their fascination with the book. My grandson does the same as his mom. He is very little and looks for a few minutes as he gets older he will probably really get into it as his mom and uncle did. I "read" the book to them by pointing at the many, many pictures and just said the words. I was glad that I could still get a copy. A one year old would love it.
Richard Scary's BEST WORD BOOK EVER October 3, 2009 S. Williams (Adelaide , South Australia) My husband had this book 30 years ago and he loved it!!!! I was so happy to find it on Amazon....now my 3 year old son has it...and he LOVES it!!!!!!
The title of this book should be: The Best Book...Ever September 23, 2009 An Eye For Quality This is an amazing book. My son is 15 months old and absolutely loves this book -- it is his favorite. He will sit and "read" it for a very long time. He never tires of it. What is truly amazing is all the little details that they begin to see in it. My son has learned so many words from reading this book with us. My husband and I both had this book when we were growing up and marvel at how this has withstood the test-of-time (although admittedly some things are a little dated and there are no computers or cell phones).
Class addition to every young library September 18, 2009 Sebastian Montgomery (TX) This is one of Richard Scarry's most memorable books. I loved this book as a child, and my son loves it now. He consistently grabs this book off his shelf--he loves for us to read together as much as he likes to look at it alone. There are so many words and pages, that it holds his attention for awhile.
This isn't a board book, so the paper pages can easily be torn. But it is a good way to teach your child how to care for books, and this is one he will likely treasure forever.
