Product Description The New York Times bestseller that is revolutionizing the way Americans educate their kidsRafe Esquith is a genius and a saint (The New York Times)
Perhaps the most famous fifth-grade teacher in America, Rafe Esquith has won numerous awards and even honorary citizenship in the British Empire for his outstandingly successful methods. In his Los Angeles public school classroom, he helps impoverished immigrant children understand Shakespeare, play Vivaldi, and become happy, self-confident people. This bestseller gives any teacher or parent all the techniques, exercises, and innovations that have made its author an educational icon, from personal codes of behavior to tips on tackling literature and algebra. The result is a powerful book for anyone concerned about the future of our children.

Teach Like Your Hair Is ON Fire November 9, 2009 C. Morrisey (Peru, Illinois) The book was in good condition and arrived in about five days. I was happy to get it before I went on vacation.
Great book for every aspiring teacher, but... September 27, 2009 Martin Hawrylkiewicz (new york) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I found a big mistake on page 70. Mr Rafe says "0 divided by any number is 0" which is completely false since if I am allowed to divide 0 by any number, let me divide 0 by 0. Then I have a little problem, don't I. Otherwise, great book.
Teaching from the Heart September 26, 2009 Evelyn D. Saenz (Miami)
When you need inspiration on ways to make your teaching come alive Teach Like Your Hair's on Fire is just the book for you. I have used ideas suggested by Rafe Esquith with first graders through college age kids.
Lively and inspiring it's a book that you just can't put down.
An inspiring read... September 12, 2009 J. Hellier (Irvine, CA USA) Rafe Esquith is truly an inspiring teacher. He uses very creative methods for engaging his students, and I hope that he provides a blueprint for other teachers. My only quibble is that his feeling towards administrators are laid bare. Did he not have any that helped him achieve the goals that he set for his classroom? He could have been a little more generous with his fellow teachers: there were only a couple of mentions regarding the good ideas of others.
Teaching from the heart July 3, 2009 a customer As a teacher, I found this book to be one of the very best. Mr. Esquith's methods and tips have helped me tremendously both in the classroom setting and dealing with the students outside of the classroom as well. It's also a very inspirational book that leaves you feeling like you can be tremendously successful if you put your heart into it. This should definitely be one of the five required books every teacher should own.
