Product Description The story of the industrious Little Red Hen is not a new one, but when this particular hen spies a can of tomato sauce in her cupboard and decides to make a pizza, the familiar tale takes on a fresh new twist. Kids will love following along as the hen, with no help from her friends the duck, the dog, and the cat, goes through the steps of making a pizza-shopping for supplies, making the dough, and adding the toppings. But despite their initial resistance, the hen's friends come through in the end and help out in a refreshing and surprising way.

Great for comparison study November 19, 2009 J. Fryxell (Warren, MI United States) I used this book with my kindergarten students. It is a great selection to pair with a more traditional version. As others have said, the ending is a twist which sends a great message about helping and sharing. I loved to use this book the first few weeks of October, which is pizza month. I too loved the collage illustrations in this book. A great spin on a classic tale.
Little Red Hen Makes A Pizza April 14, 2009 Joyce Lauffer (little rock ar) Great modern take on the traditional Little Red Hen story. The fact that the Hen shares her pizza even though no one helps her make it is a lesson in diplomacy that my students embraced. After shareing the story with them we made pizzas and invited another class to come and enjoy!
Beautiful Illustrations July 16, 2008 C. J. Reno (Bowie, MD) A wonderfully written retelling/sequel to the classic Little Red Hen story. This time, the Little Red Hen makes that kid-pleaser, a pizza.
What really makes this a must-have is the incredibly detailed collage-style illustrations. Kids can look at this book over and over and find something new on each page every time. What are the 'other things' Little Red Hen brings home from her shopping expeditions? What other project does she do that day, besides make a pizza? Look at the illustrations to find out.
Little Red Hen's Pizza December 25, 2007 M. S. Koczan (Sheboygan, WI United States) Looking for a modern take on the traditional tale of the Little Red Hen? This is it!
The format is the same but the product is different. Think the ending will be the same? You'll have to read it to find out!
Follow the book with making pizza and you'll have a delicious experience.
The Little Red Hen Makes Pizza May 20, 2007 Susan F. Kralj (Stockton, CA) My kindergarten class loves this retelling with one of their favorite foods.
