| Customer Reviews: Very Happy March 1, 2006 Jose Vieira (Lisbon, Portugal) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I purchased this book to make a quick review of Math and help my son. I am so happy that I will buy the entire collection from elementary Algebra to Calculus including Differencial equations, Geometry and Trigonometry. Great help for those who need a solid foundation in Math. You can't go wrong with Schaum's Outline.
Satisfied for my current level, but... May 14, 2005 Patrick (Mass, USA) 15 out of 17 found this review helpful
while I agree with what everyone above has said, Ill add that the series of Schaum's have helped me tremendously. IF you have a basic understanding of the concepts and need reviewing, then this might be for you.. however as a newbie, I cannot recommend a book that is consistently filled with errors. Everything said above by other reviewers is correct; compact, easy to carry, lightweight, concise, to the point, tons of problems... they simply leave out that there are page after page, in some spurts, many errors. I am at about pre-calculus level, have used Schaums Outline of Arithmetic, this book here, and purchased their Outline of Precalculus edition awhile ago. Im strictly using these books for reviewing and their inaccuracy concerns me.. for example, when I arrive at the Calc level or higher where Im probably not going to be sure of what Im doing and I need something cheap, fast, full with problems and accurate.. I don't think I will be using Schaums as I don't want to be mislead with incorrect worked out problems. For review, if you have some experience, YES use these books - definately; you can work fast and the information is packed and it's cheap! If you have no clue about the subject at hand, don't buy them. I am for Schaums technique and presentation, but their accuracy must improve... I guess that the saying holds true, 'you get what you pay for'.
the best book for studying mathematics November 30, 2000 Masaki Kondoh (Yokohama, JAPAN) 16 out of 16 found this review helpful
This book is suitable for both bad and good students at mathematics. Firstly, each category is explained easily but briefly. Secondly, there are many questions, so you can get used to each category and can solve many questions quickly. For another thing, this book is so compact that you can bring anywhere you go and read it. Finally but the most importantly, this book is excellent for people using English as a mother tongue. It is because my mother tongue is Japanese.
It goes directly to the point. There are not excesive words. March 27, 1999 Luis Magallanes ( magbravluis@hotmail.com) (USA, Mission High School, San Francisco) 30 out of 32 found this review helpful
I have been teaching since 1980 and I have been following Schaum's Collection also since I was a College student. Now, I am teaching Math at Mission High School in San Francisco and I have noticed that many of the exercises (maybe all of them) give students the increasingly maturity to become selfconfidents in math. Our scores went up!
