A great reference !!! September 13, 2009 Rostam Khoubyari As far as I can remember Harrison's has been the bible of medicine. The new edition contains more topics and comes with a DVD which is incredible.
If you really need seriously indepth knowledge.. August 11, 2009 Debra Tooker 1 out of 5 found this review helpful
I am a PA student and bought this book as part of my required texts. I thought I would use it extensively, but the truth is that this book is immense and impossible to carry around. It easily weighs 10 pounds. As far as the quality of the writing, it is good, top of the line in fact. There is practically no medical question you can ask that will not be answered in this book. But just to study and to understand the cause and treatment of disease I prefer the Current series by Lang. Anything that you really need to know is in Lang and it is considerably more portable and readable.

I find this book very helpful as reference for my nurse practitioner course. The book came in excellent condition and with fast, free delivery. It is much cheaper to buy it here than in a bookstore.
Kindle Version March 28, 2009 tk (lansing, mi and boston) 8 out of 8 found this review helpful
I just bought the kindle edition. It seems to be working ok except for the search feature and the index (in the back of the book) is not hyperlinked making it completely useless. The figures on kindle have poor contrast but they are readable, especially when zoomed - but the figures take some concentrating on because of the poor contrast quality.
I contacted amazon and they are looking into the search problem. I will contact amazon again and ask if they will look in to the index not being hyperlinked.
I imagine the search problem may have to do with the massive size of this book 128 mb (i'd recommend NOT using whispernet for this one)
The search feature is related to a digital search index (similar to google desktop indexing your computer). There is obviously a bug with this step causing the search error.
EDIT: I think they removed the kindle version from the website until the search feature bug is figured out. My hunch is it is a firmware problem and not a e-book problem.
