Amazon.com Review The keys to overweight are liver toxicity, waterlogged tissues, fear of eating fat, excess insulin, and stress, asserts nutritionist Ann Louise Gittleman. Her Fat Flush Plan addresses these problems with a targeted diet. The Fat Flush Plan, filled with nutritional analysis and detailed explanations, is not a quick read. Despite Gittleman's assertion that the plan is "as easy as 1-2-3," it is quite regimented. No white flour, white sugar, margarine, vegetable shortening, artificial sweeteners, or caffeine. The diet emphasizes essential oils (e.g., flaxseed and GLA), protein (eight ounces or more, plus two eggs a day), vegetables, thermogenic spices (e.g., ginger and cayenne), water, and diuretic beverages (eight glasses/day of diluted, unsweetened cranberry juice). In its first two-week phase, the plan is a rigid, low calorie (1,100-1,200 calories/day), low-carb (no grains or starchy vegetables) diet. Phase two lets you increase your calories to 1,500 and add two "friendly carbs." Phase three, the "lifestyle program," moderately adds more dairy, carbs, and calories. Gittleman promotes walking and recommends strength training in phase three. The book includes 41 recipes such as Grilled Lamb Chops with Cinnamon and Coriander, Breakfast Egg Fu Yung, and Cumin Sautéed Scallops. The Fat Flush Plan is recommended for dieters willing to commit to a strict plan for weight loss. --Joan Price

The Fat Flush Plan by Ann Louise Gittleman November 24, 2009 a consumer (So. CA) Book arrived in like new condition! Very happy. From my point of view the diet is relatively healthy, but my personal preference for healthy eating is somewhat different. However, I'll as closely as I am comfortable as I want to, at a minimum, kick start weight loss. Also strictly following the plan is rather costly.
The Absolutely BEST Way to Get Healthy and Lose Weight November 20, 2009 C. Walker This book has been a lifesaver for me. After trying the old "eat less and exercise more" mantra for years, the weight just kept packing on. I ate "healthy", excercised like crazy, and just generally felt horrible. When I stumbled upon The Fat Flush Plan, I thought, "what have I got to lose??" Forty-one and a half pounds in a little over six months is what I lost! I've been Fat Flushing for almost two years now and as long as I stick to it, I feel great, look great, and stay thin! Thanks, Ann Louise, for all your help!
Are you committed to change your life? November 12, 2009 Basianj (NJ) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
If you are really committed to make some very beneficial changes to your eating habits and lifestyle then this plan is for you. I first received The Fat Flush Plan back in 2003. At the time I was looking to become healthier and clean up some of my bad eating habits - weight loss was on my mind, but i wasn't truly committed to it yet. I used the book to do the two week cleansing and i wasn't quite ready to follow through. Flash forward six years to a few months ago - something finally clicked and i was really ready to say goodbye to the eating habits and lifestyle that left me overweight and low on energy. I realized that I not only was ready to change - but that my my lactose intolerance was really a sensitivity to all things dairy and I might have other sensitivites as well. I re-read the Fat Flush Plan, then I re-read it again....and it all made perfect sense to me.... so i weaned myself off the empty food I was eating - and I started The Fat Flush Plan. This time I was committed - and here it is 9 1/2 weeks later - and I am a new woman. I lost 25 pounds so far and I feel better than I have in a very, very long time.
This plan may not be for everyone. It's definitely not for people who don't want to give up prepackaged mystery foods with ingredient lists that read like a chemisty book and are a mile long.
However it IS for people who want to be able to make conscious decisions and decide not just what is good for you, but instead - what is better for you and best for your body.
Ann Louise Gittleman writes in a prose that is very easy to comprehend and follow. The protocol is laid out along with her philosophy and the science and research behind it. This book will be helpful whether you're interested in the two week cleansing period or the complete three phase makeover of your dietary life. It's not necessarily the easiest 'diet' out there. But it is a very healthy diet and the results are astounding. My weight loss so far has been fantastic - but what i'm really thankful for is the effect that eating this way has had on my self confidence, mood, emotions and hormone levels - for the first time in years i haven't needed to take any pain meds during that special time of the month. I can't wait to see the other improvements as I continue on my journey.
You should really get The Fat Flush Cookbook to accompany this - it makes it a lot easier to follow.
Great book, the only plan that works for me November 12, 2009 Michelle Michlovitz (United States) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
When I tried the FFP a couple of years ago, it worked like a charm. I was able to loose those lingering 10 lbs that wouldn't budge. ALG's knowledge about nutrition and how food and supplements affect our bodies is very impressive. I can honestly say that I am a lifetime Fat Flusher. If you'd tried every 'diet plan' and nothing has worked, you've got to try this plan because it WORKS!
