Product Description
James Rollins, the New York Times bestselling master of nail-biting suspense and historical mystery, combines cutting-edge biotechnology with a centuries-old secret in an apocalyptic story that reveals where humankind is truly headed The Doomsday Key At Princeton University, a famed geneticist dies inside a biohazard lab. In Rome, a Vatican archaeologist is found dead in St. Peter's Basilica. In Africa, a U.S. senator's son is slain outside a Red Cross camp. The three murders on three continents bear a horrifying connection: all the victims are marked by a Druidic pagan cross burned into their flesh. The bizarre murders thrust Commander Gray Pierce and Sigma Force into a race against time to solve a riddle going back centuries, to a ghastly crime against humanity hidden within a cryptic medieval codex. The first clue is discovered inside a mummified corpse buried in an English peat bog--a gruesome secret that threatens America and the world. Aided by two women from his past--one his exlover, the other his new partner--Gray must piece together the horrifying truth. But the revelations come at a high cost, and to save the future, Gray will have to sacrifice one of the women at his side. That alone might not be enough, as the true path to salvation is revealed in a dark prophecy of doom. Sigma Force confronts humankind's greatest threat in an adventure that races from the Roman Coliseum to the icy peaks of Norway, from the ruins of medieval abbeys to the lost tombs of Celtic kings. The ultimate nightmare is locked within a talisman buried by a dead saint--an ancient artifact known as the Doomsday Key.

Still too much of the same November 22, 2009 Brunello (Honolulu) James Rollins is an incredibly prolific writer. If you aren't aware, he also does fantasy that is always popular. The problem is that the writing becomes formulaic when he is running a long term series. the plot is imaginative, but the novels are beginning to have that "tossed off of my head" feeling. His action scenes are great, but no one can say that his writing is terrific.
Fun, but the excitement of this series is running down for me.
I've met Jim, and heard him speak at several Maui Writer's conferences, so I know he can do better.
Sigma Force returns November 16, 2009 Barbara L. Lemaster (Florida) Rollins' latest Sigma Force book finds Grayson Pierce dealing with both Rachel Verona, an ex-lover as well as the enigmatic Seichan, who attempted to kill him in another book. He can't be sure if Seichan's trustworthy or not, but his team has to investigate why a South African archaeological dig was razed to the ground and a senator's son murdered. The villains are a multinational corporation with designs on controlling the world's food supply as well as Seichan, who hurts Rachel in such a way that you want Grayson to smack her around a bit. The action travels from Stonehenge to Norway and there's plenty of gunfights, snowmobile chases, espionage, and even polar bear attacks to make action thriller aficionados happy. The book is a good escapist read, and I want to see where Rollins takes his characters next.
The Doomsday Key James Rollins November 15, 2009 K. Halverson (WI USA) I just finshed James Rollins new book and didn't want it to end. It was creative and just a good, excting read. I thought the plot lines were much more riveting than the new Dan Brown book, The Lost Symbol, which I also recently read. I can't wait for the next battle with 'The Guild.' The only suggestion I have is for James to start giving a few more clues as to who the Guild members are.
Signed, An avid WI reader.
Finally! A Rollins book that grabs you and refuses to let go.... November 4, 2009 A. Smolik (Fullerton, California USA) At last...I think Rollin's latest thriller "The Doomsday Key" is his best so far. After reading several other of his books, I always thought they started off way too slowly and THEN got exciting. Not so with Doomsday, from the first few pages Wham! then Bam! then a sucker punch! Heck, I was sweating a few times reading the darn thing. Other reviewers have commented on the storyline so I will refrain from adding more EXCEPT by golly if you want a book to read on a long flight or one to get you thinking than Doomsday is for YOU! Roger over and OUT.
Enjoyable read but not my favorite November 2, 2009 James Lee (Pasadena, CA) This was my first book by author James Rollins. I picked up this book because the plot sounded interested and the book had good reviews on Amazon. But I never really got into the book. I felt that the book had some great setups, but what developed from there was only interesting, not great (though it felt as if the book had the potential to be great... hard to explain).
