Worth the time and wait September 20, 2009

Like many others, I searched for a cover to protect and carry my Kindle 2 in. I was worried about the hinges damaging the Kindle itself and worried about how the cover would actually feel and function once I obtained the case I was searching for.
I originally tried to order the OCTO Vintage Leather Book Cover for Amazon Kindle 2 but shopping on Amazon can be akin to shopping on eBay. If you don't click fast enough to complete your purchase you might miss out which is what happened to me acquiring the OTCO case.
When the Cole Haan Hand-Stained Pebble Grain Leather Cover came available again (I missed out once before) I immediately purchased it without hesitation since I would barely carry my Kindle out of the house for fear of it not being protected. When I received my cover the next day I was pleasantly surprised! The cover was actually purchased as a "used" item, but it did not look like it had been used at all. The quality is excellent. The craftsmanship is well worth the investment. It even still has the rich leather scent to it. It is soft and supple which gives it flexibility to fold the cover back without strain. It came in the original Cole Haan box, tissue wrapped. It looks just like it does in the photos.
Insertion of the hinges into the Kindle was easy though I was extra careful for fear of damage to my Kindle. I was so careful the first time, the top hinge came undone and I almost went into meltdown panicking at the fact that my Kindle would had hit the ground possibly if the bottom hinge did not stay in place and if I had handled the case just at a slightly different angle. After that I made sure I completely slid down the top hinge to insert into slot, and then push up on the hinge to make sure it was completely attached to the Kindle. Since then, no more disengages!
The interior is soft and no scratches have appeared on my Kindle. The little pocket on the front cover which is 3/4 way down is great for putting little cards or notes in.
The only thing this cover is missing, is a strap or something to secure it closed. It does stay closed like a book despite me folding back the front cover continuously when I am reading. I love folding the cover back as it gives me the feel that I am reading a real book which intensifies the pleasure of using the Kindle.

The cover is excellent in all ways. My list of positives meets or exceeds all those in other 5 Star rated reviews. In addition to "feeling good, looking good, smelling good" the design compliments the Kindle-2 in every way. In addition, it is very durable and does not need to be "broken in" to feel right in the hand. The $100 price may put you off. But this cover is easily more than twice the quality and fit of the other Kindle-2 covers availble through Amazon.

After reading the smelly stories about the other Kindle 2 covers I was delighted to see the Cole Haan cover offer. It fits perfectly, looks fantastic and it actually makes me feel like I'm holding a book instead of an electronic device.
It is pricey..........but it's worth it!

Well, for the price it should be good quality and this leather coat for my Kindle is certainly very soft and supple leather in an understated colour that matches most things. I like the analogue book-like tangibility and classical appearance. The only reason I am not giving 5*s is because the beautiful soft leather is extremely subject to scuffs and marking while enduring the daily encounters in a handbag. At the same time, this adds to its authentic well-loved look very quickly.
