5 out of 5 stars Great Brining Bag   December 20, 2008

I was not sure what type of brining bag I would need for 16 lb turkey. Well, this bag was definitely big enough for any turkey size. Its sealed very easily and made brining a very simple task. Hope this helps to any who are not sure which product is best.

5 out of 5 stars The perfect solution for mess-free turkey brining!   June 13, 2008

I am so glad I found this item last year! It is a nice, heavy bag. The ziplocking mechanism works great and holds up very well.

Get a 5 gallon bucket (you can buy a brand new, clean one for cheap at many stores, incl. WM) and put the open bag in the bucket (sort of like you are lining the bucket). Lower the turkey in and then pour your brining solution in and zip 'er up! Then you can just put the top on your 5 gallon bucket and put it in a cool place for the night. I laid some Cryopaks on top of the bucket to give it extra coolness and put it in my laundry room. It made it so easy. I believe I got that tip from Alton Brown.

My bucket didn't even get dirty. When it was time to rinse off the turkey I just brought the bagged turkey up to my sink, stood it up in the sink and ran water in it. Then I poked a hole in the back side of the bag (it's not like you are going to use it again!) and kept running water to get a good rinse. That way I didn't have to handle the raw poultry excessively (which skeeves me out big time!) and I was able to adequately rinse it before lifting it out and plopping that big dude into his roasting pan.

5 out of 5 stars What a great turkey!   December 12, 2007

First ever attempt to brine a Thanksgiving turkey. The brining bag was plenty large enough for our turkey and all the brine necessary as well as being sturdy enough to handle the weight. The results were spectacular.

I followed the directions on the package EXACTLY this Thanksgiving when I used it to brine my turkey and the bag is nearly impossible to seal. I ran my fingers over the seal over and over again, it took me over 20 minutes to get the bag to FINALLY seal (After I got a load of brine all over me). It was a thick bag and appeared to be sturdy. Once I did finally get it to seal it did not leak, but I think I'll find a different brand of bag for the Christmas turkey.

5 out of 5 stars Didn't leak with a 20 lb turkey   November 27, 2007

I received my shipped turkey and it was twice the size I ordered and I didn't notice that this bag is for smaller turkeys. Nothing leaked out and it held the larger turkey with liquid with no problem. I think $8 is very expensive for an oversize ziploc bag.
