Product Description Our Dumb World: The Onion's Atlas of The Planet Earth, 73rd Edition features incorrect statistics on all of the Earth's 168, 182, or 196 independent nations. It also features maps, including a fold-out world map at actual size. Readers will learn about every country from Afghanistan, "Allah's Cat Box," to the Ukraine, "The Bridebasket of Europe."
Today's news-parody consumer cannot possibly understand made-up current events without the context of fake world history and geography. That is why The Onion is publishing a world atlas: to help us.
Our Dumb World is an invaluable tool for any reader interested in overthrowing a weakened government in East Asia, exploiting a developing nation in Africa, or for directions to tonight's party at Erica's. It is a reference guide to 250,000 of the world's most important places, such as North Korea's Trench of Victory, the Great Human Pyramid of Egypt, and Saudi Arabia's superhighway, the Mohammedobahn.

Ignore the idiots November 15, 2009 M. Yager (washington, DC) This book is brilliant- its not offensive unless you are a whiny little gremlin who gets butthurt over the slightest thing, and ignore the trolls who rate this one star becuase they thought this was a real atlas. Also my condolences to the person whose son got suspended for bringing this to school, it's really not that bad (a few swears and sexual references throughout, but nothing explicit), I mean almost every room in my high school has this book :) totally worth it, many hours of good laughs.
My kind of humor October 23, 2009 Doug H. Johnson (St. Paul, Minnesota) The humor of The Onion may not be for everyone but it is for me. If you enjoy The Onion paper or their web site, you should enjoy this book. At first I was hesitant to purchase the book but when I looked at the cover and saw that there was a "Free Globe Inside" and "Now With 30% More Asia," I knew I had to have it.
Full of bias and lies October 20, 2009 someone (USA) 0 out of 6 found this review helpful
The information in this book is full of bias and lies. It is not deserved for your time and money.
Funny and Annoying October 12, 2009 L. Mills There are some very funny parts of this book. I have lived in many countries and states and the authors really did a good job (for the most part) of finding and writing about true funny things. Fiji is nowhere to be found in the book which I thought was odd and Virginia's story seemed to fall short of funny but other places were right on. We laughed out loud a lot reading this. The annoying part about this book for me was the fact that the only place that actually had good things written about it was New York City. Obviously the authors live there and are of the same mentality of many New York City dwellers that there is absolutely nothing negative about the city, but come on. Really? Nothing at all? It is a great city but there are many funny things to poke fun at. I guess of course that would be blasphemy to a New Yorker. So the message we got from reading the book was that everywhere in the world is stupid except New York City. Some people may be able to get past this and enjoy the book but I just found that to be egocentric and it ruined the book for me.
Needs a warning label September 14, 2009 F. Teskey (Mayer, AZ USA) 0 out of 7 found this review helpful
This is adult entertainment and should be taken with that amount of credibility. If you want to laugh or cry about the world we live in, it will fill both needs.
I looked through this book briefly and know that I am definitely not a fan of doctored pictures or bile riddled facts, if you can call them facts. It is very negative and should be coupled with some companion type book to offset the shock factor. Too bad because it was a great literary idea, but too distracting to take seriously. It proves that we have freedom of speech, though...I can say that much.
Not for children, there are more balanced resources out there which have more facts to decide what history really is or isn't.
